I remember Christmas 1990 my parents got me the Huffy Vortex (I wanted the Xpert but it was cool nonetheless)

This was my favorite bike, but it was my neighbor's. Mine was pink and black even though I specifically told the easter bunny I wanted the gray and pink.

My neighbor and I usually switched bikes cause she wanted the pink and black one.

I think in the early 80's they were built well, but once Kmart started selling them they were shit.

Got this bike around 8 or 9 years old for Christmas and I was soooo happy. It was pink, banana seat with pink and white daisies on it. Obviously it had to be dubbed "Pink Lady". This is me on it in college as we saved it and my little sister got to enjoy it and became like a neighborhood mascot with all their friends. We finally got rid of it not long after the picture.

Yeah, what i remember most was how heavy this damn bike was....apparantly a bike built for anything other than tricks, which was all i wanted to do.

But, i was a broke kid, and got it from a now deceased best friend, so it will always be near and dear to me.

To be honest, while searching out the pics, i experienced this cool feeling, like i was being transported back to those days, as i hadnt even thought of this bike, let alone seen it in so long.

My first bike! I had it for a long time, until I started building 10 speeds out of old parts. Which eventually led to me building my first road racing bike. I never even owned another brand new bike until I was 22 (which I immediately rebuilt).

I had some black bike that said BMX on it we bought from Child World. I thought it was a Huffy but doing searches of Huffy BMX bikes on Google makes me think I was mistaken because none of them look like my bike.

But it was your standard boy's bike, one gear. Took it everywhere.

i had a similar one, though some fat kid sat on it and cracked it in half before i was tall enough to have the seat nearly that high.

next, i got my brother's hand-me-down Junior 10-Speed. the gears stuck and the chain was constantly derailing.

after that, a full size 10-Speed that got stolen while chained to a light pole.

not the greatest luck with bikes, i guess.

This is a tough subject for me because I was not allowed to have a Spider Bike like the other kids.
Man, those things were so cool when they came out, especially if you got a big tall sissy bar in the back and colored tires.
My first bike was an English Racer, which was fine, though I didn't really appreciate it for what it was. Then when I was 6 I got your standard bike from Sears on my birthday. It was red.
About the time I was 10, though, I stumbled on the coolest bike I ever saw, then or since.
A friend was moving overseas and had to leave the bike behind and let me have it.
This thing had an angular frame like a motorcycle, shocks on the front and rear, and was ALL chrome. The whole fucking thing, except for the chain and the seat was chrome.
It had apehangers, a sissy bar and metal pedals which of course were chrome, too.
I don't know the brand and I never saw another one since.
It got stolen....

I busted my balls a few times on that shifter! But it was a cool shifter and everyone started getting this kind after I got it. My friend had that red one on the first page, and another friend had the one with the ball shifter and he busted his balls on that one too. Right after these was when the BMX type of bike became popular and everyone called us fags for riding a banana seat with a "sissy bar". But by that point, us older kids were into the ten speeds.
