The Hitler Channel finally gets back to its roots. (http://www.history.com/content/wwii-in-hd/video-preview)

This looks like it's 58 different kinds of awesome. About time they got back to actually being The History Channel as opposed to being the shitty channel filled with shows about truckers and pawn shops and UFO's and monsters.

I've heard The History Channel called "The Hitler Channel" since for the first several years it was on it seemed to show almost nothing but shows about WWII.

I did not know that! I do remember when it was first announced that they would have a History Channel. I liked the idea, but thought it would never take off. And yes... I'm sick of the damn reality shows and monster/ghost BS.

It's frustrating that the scope of the channel is so narrow. I mean, it's about history! They should have unlimited programming. Even when they do stick to actual history-related programming it's overwhelmingly American-centric. There's the History International channel, but that just seems to be where the old WWII specials were dumped. They're really dropping the ball with at least 90% of their programming.

history channel used to be my go to channel. i hardly watch it anymore with all the shit they put on there now. nostradamus effect? blech.

i'll have to have my mom dvr the series in HD to watch sometime, as i don't have cable at my place.

I LOLd. I actually like the WW2 programming that History Channel puts on, it's some of their most interesting stuff IMO. But, echoing the previous sentiment, I would like to see some WW1 shit

I did not know that! I do remember when it was first announced that they would have a History Channel. I liked the idea, but thought it would never take off. And yes... I'm sick of the damn reality shows and monster/ghost BS.

This will be big ratings for History, but once it's over, it's back to Ghosts & Monsters & Reality shows because those shows get more viewers than the documentaries, therefore higher ratings, ergo, more advertising dollars.

They have to become a shitty channel in order to survive. Every network does, every network will.

History International is a great station with some great primetime shows that I'm constantly checking out. Engineering An Empire is one my my favorite shows. All their Archeology shows kick ass and they show all the great documentaries that they don't show on regular History anymore.

Same here. I finally got a chance to check it out a little tonight, and I like how simple they've made it. There's no chintzy, overly dramatic music or tons of interviews. They're letting the images tell the story, and they should, because the images are so visually striking that its hard to look away. Its amazing and horrible and beautiful all at the same time.
