I am def going to be getting this phone when it comes out. i think android is going to be a major thorn in the side of apple and this phone is going to be the key piece for now. totally open phone software, backed by google, available on any network. why develop for the iphone when you can do it cheaper and from I read easier on the android.

I havent had a new VW phone for over a year now.

I realized this when i went to modmymoto.com and tried to get certain things done on my phone like the ability to get free ringtones and i couldnt do jack shit. Then i see all these other guys with the same phones on diff services saying the could do whatever.

And im not sure about T-mobile here, but sprint does suck balls. And so does At&t/cingular.
But at least they are offering the plan , which can only mean more companys will.

And people still buy those carriers for some reason now there is just that more of a reason to buy them. even if they get shitty service. It should only get to the point where they all do it.

And next year Verizon will have the LTE or 4G for the Iphone launch.

A few of the websites that i was reading about the new phone also stated one of the verizon CEO's was going to the apple HQ to check out progress on the 4G iphone.

This rumor was due to the fact that wherever they were making this Driod phone was that the apple place was only 5 miles from there.

Yea, I think I'm waiting for the droid to hit before I make a choice between it and the Storm2. The Storm2 will be out 1st and is a nice looking Blackberry, but I really am interested in seeing the Droid now that I read up on it and know that Google had it's hand in so much of the creation of this phone.

Plus either way I'm gonna drop some scratch on these phones so I'm gonna wait. My Alias 1 phone has done me well this long.

I'm not doing anything until both these phones are available to actually touch and mess with in Verizon stores, I want hands on. I want to see the screen resolution, processor speed actually load things, see how if feels in my hand, etc.

I dont like the site for the phone either. I wish it was a regular verizon type phone site.

I went to the Motorola launch party for the Droid and Cliq last week. I spent 5-10 min with the Droid and I thought it was pretty cool. About the same size as the iPhone, slightly bigger screen, slide out keyboard. I wasn't a fan of the flat keys on the keyboard, but there is also an onscreen keyboard (that I didn't try). I didn't test voice, but the data is nice and fast, and was able to pick up the phone and get a Yankee score in seconds.

For those who want a good phone to access social networks and stuff, the Cliq was a nice phone for that, but the Droid is more of a techie's phone. And I didn't see this in any reviews and dunno if it's an also buy or comes with it, but there was a cradle for the Droid that turned it into a clock that looks like it would be cool bedside.

Honestly, I don't know yet. My Droid was misdelivered, I'm getting it tonight and I'll be able to spend more time with it once it's in my hand. But I really believe that you need to test a phone yourself and make sure it fits you. I love the iPhone, hate the AT&T 20% dropped calls, so it will never be the right phone for me. A lot of people like their blackberries, but I had the Tour for a month and just thought it was ok and ultimately returned it.

That and the fact that reviewers have called the camera "nearly unusable" means this phone isn't even an option for me.

Thanks for the tip! Got my android a couple of hours ago, and am loving it so far. My only complaint is that the protective cover I bought protrudes a bit too close to the keyboard.

Yea, I think I have that too. I got the 2 piece case from them that pretty much just snaps on the top and bottom, plus a screen protector. And yea, I just bought the car charger from them.

But the slide out keyboard is the only thing I'm not 100% pleased with as of now, and I think I'll get more used to it with use. I just found myself deleting as I tried to use the zero key a lot and I'm used to my Alias 1 phone with more raised keys. But I know why they gave it a flat keyboard, space is at a premium in this thing. Another millimeter here or there would have meant a larger phone.

As it is I like the onscreen touch keyboard a lot more so I may end up just not landscaping the phone as much as I thought I would.

Yea, I think I have that too. I got the 2 piece case from them that pretty much just snaps on the top and bottom, plus a screen protector. And yea, I just bought the car charger from them.

But the slide out keyboard is the only thing I'm not 100% pleased with as of now, and I think I'll get more used to it with use. I just found myself deleting as I tried to use the zero key a lot and I'm used to my Alias 1 phone with more raised keys. But I know why they gave it a flat keyboard, space is at a premium in this thing. Another millimeter here or there would have meant a larger phone.

As it is I like the onscreen touch keyboard a lot more so I may end up just not landscaping the phone as much as I thought I would.

I previously had the pocket pc phone, and the keyboard is sort of similar so it shouldn't take too long to get used to it. The protective cover problem may take a bit longer, though. The touch keyboard, though, is much easier to use than the one on my iTouch.

I went and played with the droid today.

It's a neat piece of technology, but I don't think it's for me. The cash layout would be a LOT over 2 years, plus I want to get an Itouch anyway for my birthday.
