Want to get a new 40 inch TV, the CRTs just dont cut it anymore.
Among the best reviewed TVs are the Samsung b750 and b7000.

Anyone have them? any thoughts?
I heard the sound sucks big time on flat panels. Can you hook up a simple computer speaker (like bose companions or logitech 2.0) and simply leave it on all the time?

Also - i heard old stations like TV LAND and GSN come in much worse than on an old CRT. Is this true?

Thanks!

how have you heard? Dont you know anyone with an HD tv you could go look at?

And of course you can hook other speakers to it. You can hook a computer to it and use it as a monitor too. And it looks way better on every channel. Only way a channel wouldnt look good is if they dont broadcast the channel in HD

I would look around on AVS forums.

They are a great site.

And most of the time computer speakers hook up to a 3.5mm jack OUT for audio on computers.

TV's very rarely have that as an option.

Its usually HDMI, RCA, COAXIAL, and Optical now a days.

And the reason stations like older shows come in are so crappy is because they were filmed with small resolutions.

more than likey under 480 even. So they have to STRETCH the picture to fit your screen(full screen any way)

Many tvs now a day you can change how the picture fits so you could change it to 4:8 but it wont fill the tv
