Will Tek and Lowell be back? Is a trade for Doc Halliday in the works?

Is a trade for Doc Halliday in the works?
I doubt this.
The new GM of the Blue Jays said he'd take a look at everyone on the team in terms of value, but the vibe he was putting forth was that Halladay may be a Blue Jay until next year's trading deadline.
It didn't sound like he was going to immediately dismantle that team.

By not picking up the option the Sox could offer him arbitration which would give the Sox a draft pick if Wagner signed with someone else.

Tek has an option and will probably be back as a backup to martinez. I would like to see lowell back, but theres talk of signing chone figgins, who can play just about any position, so i wouldnt be surprised if lowell was dealt.

I see doc halladay going to the saux
His value will never be higher than it is at the winter meetings. If the jays wait until the deadline in 2010 they wont get back nearly as much.
Also I see boston going after matt holiday hard and obviously letting jbay walk.
And I dont think seattle is going to let felix walk away. Theyre not big market but they're big enough to retain their franchise pitcher.

I wonder if this might signal the end of Clay Buchholz in Boston.
With the acquisition of Lackey, they might use Buchholz as a chip for someone like Adrian Gonzales to help with the offense since it looks like Bay wont be back.
I think Lackey is more like insurance in case the Sox can't Sign Beckett next year.

Oh no, Bernie was stoned when he hit that bomb in 1975 Series! And everyone thought The Spaceman was a druggie.
“I probably smoked two joints, drank about three or four beers, got to the ballpark, took some [amphetamines], took a pain pill, drank a cup of coffee, chewed some tobacco, had a cigarette, and got up to the plate and hit,’’ Carbo said.
Carbo was in the outfield at Fenway Park during batting practice, tossing baseballs into the bleachers to fans who threw him marijuana joints.

I am so sick of the sappiness that has taken over Fenway and "Red Sox Nation". Steven Tyler singing, Neil Diamond singing, all the upscale yuppies pricing the tickets into the stratosphere. Everything seems to be one of those feel good stories that the news just loves nowadays.
I've loved the Red Sox all of my life and I know that without this new ownership, we would be working on 92 years without a World Series but can the sappiness stop ?

Ditto. Went to my first Sox game in 1970. They played the Senators and Ted Williams was the manager. Legendary Sherm Feller (“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Fenway Park”) (http://www.shermfeller.com/)was on PA and John Kiley (who had the fastest National Anthem in the majors!) on the organ (he's also the answer to the trivia question: Who is the only person to have played for the Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics). And that was it. No stupid-ass Sweet Caroline and all the celebrities Sox fans coming out of the woodwork.
Growing up there was nothing better than driving up to Boston for a Sunday afternoon game, grabbing a copy of The Globe and sitting in the bleachers reading the sports section during BP.
Now you have the Red Sox nation crap. My sister-in-law's and her husband claim to be huge Red Sox fans and I bet they can't even name the starting line-up.
Sadly this sappiness = money.

You are correct. I realize that it isn't just baseball anymore, it is a business. The Red Sox are one of the "haves" as opposed to the "have-nots". They are spending money on the team and player development, and that money has to come from somewhere. They need to fill the stands every night and sell every advertisement and every Red Sox nation membership that they can.
I was lucky enough to be able to take my 2 sons to their first Red Sox game last year. The only way I could afford it was to buy tickets in Baltimore. It was actually cheaper to buy the tickets, travel to Baltimore, get a hotel room, and go to the game there, than it would have been to buy tickets to Fenway. Their first and only Fenway experience so far was for a minor league double header that the Red Sox put on.

That's why they sell out Camden every time the Sox come to town. Same with the Yanks. Last year, the Sox finally played interleague at the Nats' stadium and each night was a new attendance record.

he is ripping off what i said anyway (hoo hoo). Our point was that elsbury is only hurt cause tito is a moron and put him in left, where he used his centerfield instincts to come in too far on a ball and ran into Beltre.
Cameron has the best arm and great range. the best arm is supposed to be in right, and boston's RF is big. Elsbury is a natural CF with incredible range who is already familiar with the weird CF in Fenway and plays it very well. He should be in center.
JD Drew is a lazy fuckin faggot who should be put in left where he has the least ground to cover and can feel good about padding his assists.
Thats why it should be drew left, Elsbury center and Cameron right.

I hate JD so much. Pathetic bum. Cannot wait till the 12 mil a year is free. I understand putting elsburry in left. He's got a weak arm. Drew for all of his problems is rarely a problem in the field. And ask Johnny Damon or Cameron for that matter about collisions in CF.

cameron was actually in right when he collided, beltran was in center. But elsbury's arm was fine enough in center. The big arm needs to be in right, and the bum needs to go to left

i understand bro. he isnt the point. the point is, he isnt fast enough to play center and cameron has a much bigger arm and more range, so why not put cameron in the very big right field and move drew to the smaller field. He might not be a problem in the field, but he is still our 3rd best OF. He doesnt have the range either of them have or the arm cameron has. He belongs in left. Its not about his glove

He's not a problem in right. His arm is adequet. Spelling I know. They baby him. I hate the guy so much because he looks so non carring while he plays. McCready: Clemens had trouble in bed (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/McCready-Clemens-had-trouble-in-bed?urn=mlb,237826)
While Roger Clemens was busy dominating teams on the mound, the so-called Rocket apparently wasn't as dominant in the sack, says his former mistress, country superstar Mindy McCready, according to the New York Daily News.
Porn giant Vivid Entertainment is apparently set to release a tape on Monday that has an interview with McCready discussing her affair with Clemens in-depth. She confirms that the two met in 1991 when she was 15 and he was a married pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in his late 20s. They apparently watched a Walter Matthau movie and then showered together. Awww.
McCready goes on to say that Clemens suffered some erectile dysfunction issue when they were together, according to the paper, but was good in bed "when he could get it up."

VMart isn't coming back next year. At least not as catcher. 68 million coming off the books after this season including Ortiz(13) Lowell(12.5) and Lugo(9). They missed out on Texiera but most likely the Yankees would have trumped whatever was offered. I think they had pretty good info that Mauer wasn't going to go anywhere. That being said it makes sense to sure up your pitching(eventhough it hasn't panned out yet), sign your home grown allstars and go after Gonzalez either at trading deadline or offseason.

Its just painful to see him coming to the plate with anything on the line, so just put Lowell in the DH slot and be done with it.
Make every AB by Big Papi an occasion..something to be celebrated. Give the fans a chance to cheer for all the great moments he provided us over his Boston career instead of booing him after he eventually grounds into a double play or flails weakly at the fastballs he cant catch up with anymore.
It was nice David, but its time to ride into the sunset gracefully.

Again last night, he predictably hit into the shift between first and second, causing a rally-ending double play. As such, the only good thing about his at-bats now is that they are a smoke/bathroom break.
"David's fine. He's one of our teammates. We believe in him. He's going to come out of it. He's had 60 at-bats. A couple of years ago I had 60 at-bats and it was me hitting .170 and everybody was ready to kill me, too. Then what happened? 'Laser show.'"

Lowell took less money to come back to Boston and then broke down.
Ortiz had the wrist injury and then stopped taking the juice.
Lugo just blew.
Most of those contracts will be off the books after this season and there are some pretty good players scheduled to hit the free agent market the next couple of seasons:
Albert Pujols
Prince Fielder
Jose Reyes
Jimmy Rollins
Jonathan Broxton
Matt Cain

Which Sox GM wouldn't trade that awful left handed pitcher for gold when he ended up being very shitty?
Casey Fassum or Jon Lester?
Kevin
05-19-2010, 02:39 PM
All Kidding aside..
Both GMs are overrated..
Cashman got lucky that 3 big FA's were available and was on a team that spent money.
Remember, Theo would have ever made the Beckett deal if he was the GM and failed to lock down Tex.
And don't say anything about the wife. Tex should never have left that 8hr meeting without a deal.the diff they were at was like 1.5 mil a year. Yanks were not even in it at that point.
After that meeting, Yanks said fuck it, and got him.

Not that part
Schill had a No Trade and Theo and crew went down there for a sales pitch. Also Curt was very weary of Fenway. He would have prefered the Yanks at the time
Yeah, he nailed the Curt thing.
Casey Fassum or Jon Lester?
Casey Fossum. The Sox used to get offered great trades and they wouldn't do it because they wouldn't trade him. He sucked.

I would watch Games that he pitched and would think, what the hell do they see in him to think he is so good?
He blows

His fastball was another offspeed pitch.
Beckett placed on DL (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/05/beckett_on_disa_1.html)
And Wake gets to start again.
Buchholz has been the ace thus far.

I've noticed were not wearing those godawful hanging sox hats anymore. I have less issue with some wigger walking down the street than us wearing it on the field. The traditional hat makes the Friday uniforms look a little less cartoony.

I say go back to the red letter road jerseys, use the current roads as a retro friday uniform and then make up a "flannel" home jersey commemorating the 67 or maybe and earlier team's uniform and use that as a home retro friday.
Oh and great weekend in Philly. NL baseball sucks.

And no more red/blue jerseys.

Yea, another inch, maybe it only goes halfway to the parking lot, instead of over it.

Lester looked great tonight, one hit over six innings to beat Tampa.
Sox are starting to take shape, pitching is on, Elsbury and Cameron are back and Papi is hitting.

I would like to nominate David Ortiz for this years Human Victory Cigar.
It was nice David, but its time to ride into the sunset gracefully.
.396/.441, 6 HR, 19 RBI since I posted this.
Now if Lackey doesn't start throwing strikes, I might have to publicly humiliate him in a post, spurring an amazing turn around.
Not only another loss to the Royals but an ass-kicking as well?
Why can't Wake pitch like that all the time?

I thought getting swept by the O's was rock bottom this season. Then last night I watched the Sox manage only 2 hits and Boof Bonser and Joe Nelson team up for an 8-run 8th.
Fucking Bonser couldn't even throw a strike.

For players who don't have a position on the field to compensate for not signing someone the previous offseason...
So Snoogs, you still want to trade Papelbon after Bard blew last night's game in Bonser-like fashion?
Masterson is a decent pitcher. Let's not go overboard here. You had to give up a little something to get Martinez

i fuckin tried to tell you guys. From the moment I saw Vlad, who at the time couldnt catch up to any fastball come to the plate in the playoffs, I said to kevin watch him rip one of this jerkoff Paps.
He rips the next pitch, a fastball, right up the middle. Beginning of the end. He is a cock sucking douche and on top of that, he isnt very good. He is just ok, but a skirt wearing river dancing faggot. SHIP HIM OUT

Bases loaded twice and they couldn't score. Two men on and they couldn't score. And then an error which led to a cheap run.
What a sloppy game and a waste of a decent outing from Wake.
