i have to make a presentation in a few weeks
it will involve showing old people how to
search on the internet and how to navigate
some genealogy sites...no problem so far

i would like to be able to take my laptop
and be online and show them step by step live
there will be too many people to just look
over my shoulder

is there an easy and cheap way
to project the image on my laptop computer screen
onto a wall or movie screen?

Cheapest one I've seen. (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4340434&CatId=1756)I guess you don't need a thousand dollar machine for this presentation.

a projector.
yupp, hooks up quick, you have short cut keys on your laptop to switch between monitor/ monitor + projector/ projector only

you can rent them as well, but most companies have a few on hand to give out for meetings.

the public library or college AV center may let you check one out

thank you for all the ideas and links
this will be done at a public library
so i will call them and see if they
already have the projector

if so, i'll do a dry run first
if not, i'll pursue all the other ideas

Thank you to all!

make sure they have a hdmi(or whatever output port you have) to vga cable(the input of most projectors)

HDMI is digital; VGA is analog. A cable wouldn't help.

many projectors have mutiple inputs digital and analog are non issues becuse the screen has nothing to do with it. i dont know what kind of computer he has but most have a vga port and hdmi for audio from a projector is a waste
