First one that comes to mind, TONY ROMO. Man do I love Romo now. My favorite QB

I would add Michael Vick, but I already loved him. Apparently, many many people just love Mike Vick.

DO YOU EVEN WATCH SPORTS. The pistons made a gameplan of hacking the shit out of jordan. Not a single guy in the NBA in the last 10 years ever took the pounding Jordan took.

What????? That is NOT the Jordan Rules.

While your absolutely right that Jordan caught a beating by the Pistons (which is why he could never beat them), that was early in his career. After he became a true great one and won a championship the "Jordan Rules" referred to the fact that any graze when he was going to the basket was automatically a foul. And that Jordan was allowed at least 3 steps without dribbling the ball where most players had to settle for 2.

My athlete would be Favre just because hes such a dick now that I love it. I always liked to root for the bad guys, what can I say?

The Jordan Rules were a defensive strategy employed by the Detroit Pistons against Michael Jordan in order to contain Jordan. Devised by head coach Chuck Daly in 1988, the Pistons' strategy was "to play him tough, to physically challenge him and to vary its defenses so as to try to throw him off balance. Sometimes the Pistons would overplay Jordan to keep the ball from him. Sometimes they would play him straight up, more often they would run a double-team at him as soon as he touched the ball to try to force him to give it up. And whenever he went to the basket, they made sure his path was contested". This strategy has also sometimes been employed against other prolific scoring guards. [1] The Jordan Rules were an instrumental aspect of the rivalry between the "Bad Boys" Pistons and Jordan's Chicago Bulls in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

They even wrote a book about it.

They could not have had an official difference in rules by refs for one guy. Just stop it

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Daly described the Jordan Rules as:[2]
“ If Michael was at the point, we forced him left and doubled him. If he was on the left wing, we went immediately to a double team from the top. If he was on the right wing, we went to a slow double team. He could hurt you equally from either wing -- hell, he could hurt you from the hot-dog stand -- but we just wanted to vary the look. And if he was on the box, we doubled with a big guy.

The other rule was, any time he went by you, you had to nail him. If he was coming off a screen, nail him. We didn't want to be dirty -- I know some people thought we were -- but we had to make contact and be very physical.

That might have been the informal meaning some people tossed out, but "the Jordan Rules" officially referred to what Snoogans was talking about with the Pistons, plus the Knicks' attempts to contain him.

Well not officially, no shit. I know about the book and the origin of what they were, but the fact is in his last 8-10 years playing, plenty of people referred to the "Jordan Rules" as the shit he was allowed to get away with that most players arent. Ive even heard them called the "Kobe Rules" nowadays.

Certain things like traveling and double dribbles that referees just ignore for the star players. Watch the shot Jordan made to win his last NBA title. Youll see a perfect example of the Jordan Rules in full effect as he uses a push off to make the final shot, right in front of the referee, who does nothing.

Not so much of a "like" thing as more of a "respect" thing (much in the same way I feel about Jeter). NOBODY takes more shit from the fans and the media than Sid does (he's despised by THREE different fanbases), and he just goes out there and does his thing.

Plus, Red Wings fans hate him, and if there was ever a fan base that needed to be taken down a peg or two, its Red Wings fans.

Snoogans is right, and you are incredibly wrong: (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/jack_mccallum/05/28/daly.lebron/index.html)

EDIT: Looks like others said the same thing already.

While some may call alleged preferential treatment by refs as "Jordan Rules," the Jordan Rules were what was above. It's hilarious how you could say these weren't the Jordan Rules when there is all this stuff saying that is exactly what the Jordan Rules were.

And that SI used that term again in 2007 when talkng about Lebron.

After Hard Knocks, I'm a fan.

There's a sort of playfulness and self-awareness with Ochocinco that Terrell Owens has never had. With T.O., there's a hostile, really mean-spirited edge to his plays for attention. I can't imagine Ochocinco ever throwing Carson Palmer under the bus the way Owens has thrown every QB he's played with under the bus.

when I hear chad, i get the feeling he is selfish in his own shit, wants to be seen and heard, and wants to put on a show. but most important, he seems to want to win. If they win by 20 and he only catches 2 passes, he always seemed fine with that. Thats why I dont hate Chad like I do TO and them

Why does NY do that with all its plays? Somehow Starks dunked on Jordan, and jeter made this amazing catch while diving into the stands and hitting his face on a chair.

Only starks wasnt anywhere close to dunking on Jordan, and Jeter caught that ball IN FAIR TERRITORY. He jumped into the crowd a second or 2 after he had caught the ball and recorded the out. Ballsy, yes, diving into the seats to make a catch, not even fuckin close.

Oh I agree it happens in football and even more in hockey. Its just in those sports its not as often and doesnt always lead to points on the board.

When guys like Sidney Crosby flop after being bumped and a ref calls a penalty, its ridiculous but it doesnt guarantee Pitt will get a point out of it. Same for when they sneeze in the direction of Bradys knee and the ref throws a flag.

you should prob flip back on an NBA game. Its changing back. They allow alot more contact and guys get punished a bit more now. Bron gets cracked a good 5 times a game. The refs blow is also the other problem. This have gotten better, but once the playoffs come, the stars start to get calls again.
