That is an awful list of bands, yet no different than the charts usually look.

there is sooo much good new music. this list is a true testament to how lazy people are. greenday doing power ballads, hermaphrodite, and a band called nickel back that makes my skin crawl with douche chills every single time I hear ANY of their songs. kinda makes me sad.

I've only heard 3 of those albums ... and I haven't heard them at all in 2009.

I did hear the Lady Gaga singles. She belongs at the top of this list.

16 Nickelback Dark Horse 1.642.500

Since everyone claims to hate Nickelback, where in the world do all their fans come from? I don't think i've ever met a single Nickelback fan.

I think you have to consider that whatever experience you've had in your life that turned you away from top 40 radio stuff is not the common experience. As awful as that music seems to the people in this thread our favorite bands are inaccessible or unpenetratable to the majority of people.

To me it's always better to be under the radar. God forbid your favorite band is number one on that list, then every record company guy is butting in and trying to replicate that success, or they're trying to pump out bands that sound exactly like you, or various other ways to completely over expose you and make everyone sick of you.

Ain't nuthin' wrong with that list.
It's the same cross section of disposable stuff and classic stuff that we would have seen on a sales chart when I was growing up. (I graduated in 1989).

We had Paula Abdul, David Bowie, Falco, Boston, Bananarama, Pink Floyd, Culture Club, Rush, ....Michael Jackson... U2....

This current list is right where it should be.

here's the fixed link:
linky (http://www.worldwidealbums.net/index.htm)

[scroll down a bit]

It says: "Worldwide ESTIMATIONS - DURING 2009 - Update 02/10/09"
"Are Estimations, so nothing "official". Consider the data as "Points", not pure sales data.

So its albums sales YTD including stuff released prior to 2009 and is current as of 10/02.

I get what you're saying. Perhaps something I left out is that I love top 40 radio. Lots of great music was top 40. It just seems to me that the recent couple of years have sucked a dick top 40 style. The beatles are my favorite band and it was all pop. I know that's an old example but they were first of many. Of this list I can't say I like one of those songs. Under the radar shit is what makes me happy these days.
