So very outstanding.

Yet another screener I got to go to this week and it kicks pretty much every single type of ass you can think of. I was totally burned out on zombie flicks but this one does almost everything right. It's similar to Shaun of the Dead in how it approaches the subject matter as totally absurd with just the right touch of "seriousness" scattered throughout, but it's not in any way a parody or homage like SotD was. I really could watch many, many hours of Woody Harrelson killing the holy fuck out of a legion of zombies.

Plus maybe the best surprise cameo, well, ever.

I'm looking forward to this as much as Inglorious.

If those stuck up idiots at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences don't consider both of these films, they should lose all credibility in the eyes of the movie going public.

Cunts.

I didn't like it that much. I thought the humor fell flat and the self-aware stylistic touches grew stale after a really promising first third which set the table for a story payoff that never really arrived. Rogue survivors band together to kill zombies and quip while the audience is aided by onscreen annotation of how to survive in the virulent landscape...whoopty-doo. The jokes overall weren't funny enough and the kills inflicted on the living or the dead were pedestrian at best. The ultimate barometer for how you judge the film will probably be how you react to the big cameo everyone will be talking about which I frankly thought was lame and silly. If, like me, you find zombies to be undynamic horror villains, this is something I would urge you to see at the discount theatre or rent because it makes no bones about bringing nothing new to the table of this sub-genre but doesn't have the execution to back up its complacency. Two and a half out of four popcorn buckets.

This movie was SO fucking awesome. The opening killed it, the music throughout the movie was great, the acting was done surprisingly well and the cameo, well what really needs to be said about that except....

That'll do pig.

A completely fantastic movie, really good cast. I'm a big fan of that Eisenberg kid, he was also really good in Adventureland. And Woodie Harrelson really deserves to be in more movies.

I'm glad to hear so many positive reviews. When I saw the trailer I was hoping the movie was half as good as it was, but figured it was probably a dud.

Now I gotta see it.

If I could re-enact Ghostbusters with Bill Murray I would welcome a zombie apocalypse.

Bill Murray

I just learned that spoiler text doesn't work in ispy.

Ah well. I made the mistake of reading the cast list on imdb, so I knew who the cameo was anyway.

God DAMN this was a fun time at the movies.

Quirky little movie. Very self aware. LOTS of fun. Good times.

I watched it today and absolutely loved it.
Zombie movies are my favorite genre, and this one really held up. I didn't even hate Jesse Eisenberg, which I usually do.

The cameo was probably my favorite part of the movie.

And Emma Stone is super sexy.

The director of ZOMBIELAND (Ruben Fleisher) was just on one of Doug Benson's podcasts called DOUG LOVES MOVIES and he revealed a hilarious little nugget.

The cameo was not originally supposed to be Bill Murray, but rather, Patrick Swayze.

The characters break into Swayze's house, and discover some various props from Swayz' movies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) sits down at the clay potter's wheel thing and suddenly... slowly.... two arms gently come into the frame and start to "hug" him. It's ZombieSwayze!!
Soon... a brawl breaks out which is a punch for punch recreation of fight from ROADHOUSE.

ZombieSwayze jumps off a table to attack Woody Harrelson, who then catches Zombieswayze over his head ... a la Dirty Dancing. Woody then proceeds to violently throw Swayze in a corner.

His description was hilairous.

If you're interested in hearing it.... look for Doug Benson on iTunes... the podcast is free. His stories about working with Bill Murray was interesting and funny too.

ENJOY

Wow I just watched it and was thoroughly unimpressed.

I really was surprised by how many of you liked it and liked it a lot.

Harrelson was great and even the dorky kid had some moments but if you take out the Bill Murray scene there's really not much to it.

You could see the kids " tips " that opened the movie in some of the trailers so that didn't amount to anything.

The 2 female characters were unlikable and I kept hoping one if not both would get killed.

Passed the time but doubt I'd ever rewatch it.

In my opinion not even in the same theater as Shaun Of The Dead.

On of the better things on the DVD was the teaser for Season 3 of Breaking Bad.

Heard an episode from last week and glad Ron kinda had the same opinion as I about the movie.

I don't agree though that it was similar to Shaun Of The Dead even if it is a zomedy.
