I'm thinking about starting a music podcast, and I need some advice from those around here that have some experience. It's going to be nothing fancy, just new stuff that I like with brief descriptions of the band and album.

Here's some questions:

1. Are the USB mics that are available at places like Best Buy good enough? I have been offered the use of a radio station production room but it would be much easier to do this at home.

2. Should I record the whole show live, or just voice track my intros/outros and edit them all together with the songs? I have no desire to "hit the post", so my only real concern is the extra time of editing things together may be a pain in the ass.

3. One hour? Two hours? Weekly, biweekly, or monthly? The amount of needed material will never be an issue.

4. What is the best host for these? I've signed up for a couple places, but I have no idea what the difference is between them.

5. I need some ideas for a name of the show.

if you aren't doing crazy shit on cam while the tunes play no one will care. get outrageous and it will go viral.

Blue Microphones make very good USB microphones at good prices.

If you're not taking calls, I don't see any reason not to just edit it together later. You might learn and improve by listening and editing it together.

There's a lot of radio and podcasts now, I think anything more than an hour would be overkill, and nobody would have time to consistently "tune in."

Probably won't make a difference at first, but if you plan on it taking off, I'd pay attention to each plans bandwidth. The bills can be a lot like a cellphone bill. You're allowed so much a month, but once you go over, you get hit hard.

5. I need some ideas for a name of the show.
