Make sure to tune in tonight to see him admit to sex with an employee.

Letterman admits affairs; claims extortion (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g5No12hnyS8EWTaz9u37uQYgyVTgD9B2MHG00)

David Letterman acknowledged on Thursday's show that he had sexual relationships with female employees and that someone tried to extort $2 million from him over the affairs.

During the taping of his CBS late-night show in New York, Letterman discussed receiving a threat to either pay $2 million or risk the relationships being made public.
In a release from the show's producer, Letterman said he referred the matter to the Manhattan district attorney's office and that an investigation ended in an arrest Thursday. Letterman did not identify the person he said was arrested.

As part of the investigation, Letterman said he issued a "phony" $2 million check to the individual and the arrest followed — along with testimony by Letterman.

OK, the most shocking piece of information that I learned is that David Letterman also worships Luther Vandross.

Radio psychic:

A. the guy won't do any real jail time and,

b. I'll bet the guy is a little guy, otherwise he just would have pounded on Dave. Dave's a pretty big guy, so a little guy wouldn't think of doing that.

Other than that, Famous Guy bangs someone who works for him?

Yawn. Ron was banging Lily, and nobody made a big deal about that, right?

Dave has a really specific type he keeps going for. Here are the 3 women we know he's been involved with:

I have been hearing a lot about wether this is sexual herassment or not. If a boss has sex with his employees, is it automatically sexual harassment? Even if its consentional?

No, it's not automatically sexual harassment.

But whenever a boss sleeps with an employee, it is something that could easily be raised.

So I wonder what the fallout of this will be and what will happen. Will he quit? Would a woman feel compelled to comply with her boss if he made advances on her or expressed an interest?

My guess is that because we haven't heard from these women before about sexual harassment, you won't hear them now.

And yes, the whole sexual harassment laws, etc came about because women felt compettled to sleep with their bosses, or were fired if they didn't.

It's gone overboard too much for certain, but there was a reason for it.

When a person gets into a powerful position, they really aught to be aware of how their power can inadvertantly force someone into a position and how that can be interpreted as cooersion. The guy that was trying to blackmail him was attempting to use a similar type of power to compel Letterman to act.

But two people can have a consensual relationship and where there is no coercion. And it's very easy to remove any appearance of coercion in such relationships.

At my old firm, a partner and a senior associate got into a relationship, and when they did they were asked to sign a form admitting the relationship was consensual. They did, and they are now married.

Finally, if someone interprets behavior as coercion that is not similar to what the blackmailer was doing. That was outright and obvious coercision.

So I heard that one of the requirements to be an intern at the David Letterman show was that female applicants only and that oral exam to be conducted by Letterman himself.

I find this entire episode incredibly distasteful. Repulsive, even.

I'm sure his mom must have had dark hair at one time.

Hmmmmmmm, does Dave have an Oedipus complex?
