what's the point of that red lamp in the bathrooms of hotels? are we supossed to pretend we're on Krypton while in the shower?

If I'm not mistaken it is a heat lamp, or a UV light to make sure no DNA samples are left behind.

It's the thing that keeps the french fries warm at the Hotte Shoppe on the thruway. Before you leave, toss some DNA on top of the light and run. You won't be there to see anyone's expression when they turn it on, unless you only pretend to leave and stay under the bed. The maids will never find you there since they never clean under the beds. You will be safe, and can witness the next guest yelp "Peeee-yoooooo! What's that STINK? It smells like roasted DNA!" The you can come out and laugh heartily in the doorway as they try to wipe the smear from their head(s). Then you may leave.
