I forgot just how bad this movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scanners) was.
I'm watching it now. Was this consider to have been good at the time of release?
it has the feel of a bad low budget made-for-tv-movie.

I think that movie got most of it's heat because of the trailers that ran on TV. They focused on that guy's head exploding. If I recall correctly, they showed him right up until the point when his head actually exploded and then cut away. Kind of old hat at this point I guess, but I remember the commercials being kind of shocking at the time.
