This is a female basset hound that is up for adoption along with her brother. My sister-in-law and I want to adopt these puppies. Paperwork is going through on Monday to make sure we aren't breeders, etc.

Now, the part I confess to is that I really want this puppy. It is our dream dog plus it is up for adoption, not a breeder. This is a major bonus for me because I like to help dogs.

The other confession I have is that I am a little nervous because we already have 2 dogs. Am I ready for another? Is 3 dogs too many, even if you are a dog lover? I am a stay at home mom, so I am home all of the time. Our dogs never get left, rarely at least.

Help me decide.....plus I just wanted to share these cute pictures. We would name her Fefa, after our wacky tour guide in Spain.

I meet many people with multiple dogs at the dog park. None of them seam to have too much of a problem. What size and ages are the other two?

we have a lab/golden retriever mix - he's 4 and super lazy
we have a husky type mix - he's 10.

The reason I want another dog is that our older dog is going down hill pretty quickly now and our 4 year old relies on him just to go out and pee. I don't want him to be completely devastated when the day comes that he is not around. Our dogs get along with all dogs. Our friends and relatives bring their dogs over all of the time cause we have a fenced in yard they can run around in.

I say go for it. Adorable dog, btw. Where are you adopting from? Our local SPCA doesn't worry about breeders, because they require that you spay or neuter the pets you adopt.

they require the spaying too. But since I am outside the 50 mile radius and she can't get spay until December, they are just worried I'd run off with her and breed her or something or not get it done. Hell, I am paying for the spaying up front, I think I am going to get her spay. All of our animals are "fixed". I don't want a litter of pups to get rid of. Gese!

Bull shit, he's a wolf, and a poor judge of character. (He growled at me)

The pup is cute as hell btw.

I think having 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a Rhino is enough for anyone.

The five flavors dull the taste.
Racing and hunting madden the mind.
Precious things lead one astray.

Therefore the sage is guided by what he feels and not by what he sees. He lets go of that and chooses this."

And when the next adorable puppy or kitty comes along?

Must we constantly get what we want?

Or more precisely, what we think we want?

Happiness does not come from obtaining more things.

It's found in what we already have.

This adorable puppy and her brother were abandoned. How could you say no to them?

Happiness for me IS obtaining more things! No really, I like to take care of people and animals. It's my thing.

OMG that bassett is adorable. Well, they all are but what a cutie! As long as you and Rhino and the kids are all in agreement that this would be a good addition, go for it!

if this was an impulse buy I would agree with you,

but this was something they discussed about before they even saw the bundle of cuteness

I am pretty sure we are getting this dog tomorrow. Our next dog was supposed to be a basset. She just came into our lives quicker than planned. I am looking forward to having a dog that is going to be more child friendly than our other two. I would probably have 10 dogs if Ryan would allow me and we had a bigger house.

I am not looking forward to potty training another dog, but hey...will keep Greta and I busy for the next month or two. She is going to be an excellent addition to our family.

We have been thinking of getting a second dog so my Black Lab will have a buddy. He is 6 and still has a lot of puppy left in him. We want a dog with a milder temperment to help chill him out a little. We will probably adopt one soon.
congratulations I have always loved the Bassets
