Anyone watch this? Has me intrigued, altho I have a problem w/ the end.
When was the last time a baseball game has been played b4 noon? The only known
conscious person is at Tiger Stadium in Detroit at 11 AM? Please!!!
Also loved the "Lost" plug at the beginning w/ the Oceanic billboard.

I saw it and I liked it. I just hope that ABC gives it a chance considering they know who is behind this show and they don't panic and cancel it if they don't see spectacular ratings.
It will be interesting to see how many Lost alumni make it onto this show seeing as it started with one (Penny) and in the previews I saw two others (Charlie and that woman that had Sawyer's daughter).

I wanted to like the show and I really wasn't impressed with it. I'm gonna give it a few more weeks to see where it goes, but it feels too M Nighty for my liking.
Also, why the fuck is Seth MacFarlane on it? That kind of shit takes me out of the show, I could just hear Brians voice.

It was 11am in the west, so that's 1pm Detroit time. It's believable that a day game could've been just starting then.
I thought the show was okay. The question is though, will ABC keep this show in rotation until April 29?
Encore tonight on ABC for those that may have missed it.

This is another of those shows with a premise that would provide 10, maybe 12, good episodes tops , but will have things strung along to try to squeeze 100 episodes out of it.

I wanted to love it, but was annoyed that they turned it into a family drama. Also they made the FBI seem like it was 4 people. I thought the conclusions everyone was coming to were rushed. I think there's a lot of potential though, so I'll give it a few more weeks.

I was wondering if that was Seth MacFarlane but thought there's no way it could be. Considering he only really does voice work I doubt they thought he'd be a distraction.

if the whole world knows that at 10pm april 26 whatever you are doing will be 'sent back' 6 months to the past, when that date and time comes, who would be sleeping, taking a shit or drunk? you know that this window is coming, you know exactly when. anything you see or do will be sent back. i dont get it. these people have an opportunity to send a message from the future to their past selves, why waste it?

the similarities to what it was like after 9/11 here in the city were really creeping me out. especially all the missing people posters outside the hospital.
i'm gonna stick with it for a few more episodes but i hope seth mcfarlane doesn't come back. that really took me out of it.
one thing i can't figure out is the reaction the kids are having to the flash forwards. both kids (the little daughter & the injured boy) seem to feel really really close to the people they saw in their flashforwards like they have known them forever.

I like the show so far. I don't think the wife is having an affair with Dylan's father. In her flashforward, she's wearing lingerie and calls out "Honey" and then seems shocked to see a shirtless man on her couch. I think she was calling for her husband, not knowing that he had left the house. Why the kids father is there is something that will develop and I'm sure it'll have to do with the 2 kids knowing each other.
I've heard a lot of complaints of Seth MacFarlane being on the show, but I have no clue what he looks like, so I don't know which character he even played. All I know about Seth is he created Spawn and bought Mark McGwire's record breaking homerun ball.

There was some definate weakness in this last episode. The humor and the overlong scenes between the guy and his wife. But then they bring in some intrigue with the D Gibbons. I'm less intrigued but I'll stick with it, Nazi scientists next week.
And the FBI agent that is going to get pregnant is hot as shit. I get the feeling it's Harold and Kumar's baby.

What I don't get is the board that the main character is working on. As he put up the picture of the burned doll head on the board I was thinking that the only reason he did it was because it was in his flash forward:
It's in his flash forward because he put it up sometime between the blackout and 6 months in the future, but if he didn't have a flash forward he would not have known to put it up there in the first place. I understand the paradox of seeing something before it happens (which we see in Time Travel stories) but shouldn't there be another reason behind something happening outside of seeing the future and just filling it in?
This show wants to be another Lost, but I since I know it cannot be, I am still enjoying it. I did not expect much at all when I watched last week. I will give it a chance.
One thing I think they missed (and a show like this needs to pay attention to detail) When New Sulu/Harold was talking to future pregnant agent he said that the Sherrif in Utah told him that she did not have a flashforward and then 5 minutes later she was shot and killed. She told him that as soon as they landed in the chopper (in the bright Utah sun) they all waited for "D. Gibbons" to come off the bus, investigated the doll factory and then she was shot at night time. There is no way that was meant to be 5 minutes later.

why are the 'future people' (whos vision is being sent back), not activlly trying to send back important messages?
they know the exact date and time that the flash will occur.
so why are people sleeping through it? and why would that one guy be on the toilet?
if you knew that at 930 tonight, what ever you looked at, heard, smelled, or did would be sent to the past. giving your past self a vision of the future. would you take a nap or a shit at 930? id be looking at the past months sports scores or studying stocks that have done well in the past 6 months

so far, it's enjoyable, though there's some stupid stuff.
- the FBI guy leaves work because his daughter is having problems in preschool?!? and everyone else seems fine with him leaving, as if it was just a plain ol' boring Tuesday, and not the day after a giant f#cking mental blackout affected everyone on the planet!!!!
- the little comic-relief scene with the guy on the toilet seemed out of place with what's going on.

That is a great point. However, I don't think it's why the show fails. I think the show fails because the characters have zero depth. A prime example of this is the higher up from the NSA that was randomly introduced to the show in episode 2. She was stereotypical heartless, but powerful government agent antagonist/comic relief from the very beginning. The whole show has these types of characters. I feel like these shows are written in offices based on cumulative data on how viewers react to certain types of characters rather than by writers trying to develop a story. Also, the kid storyline is beginning to have its place in the overall story but it is empty and boring. Ohhh, kids are sad. Ohhh, kids are scared. Ohhh, kids say something creepy. It's formulaic and boring. I wish ABC would have focused this show more on the events in a less linear and personal way. I think they had to center it around the investigation of the events, but I really have no interest in the family drama that's developing.

I don't think he meant an actual "5 minutes later", rather just using a metaphor of how quickly it happened.
The one thing that bothered me was the school teacher saying that the kids were playing "blackout", which is behavior they saw after 9/11 and Katrina.
Really? Were kids playing 9/11 and Katrina in the schoolyards? WTF does that even mean?
And I've been thinking about the show and I think I know what caused the Flash Forward.

Did anyone think that they were able to put together that everyone in the world had a flash forward to exactly the same time too quickly, and what that exact date and time was and the exact length of teh flash forward. I would think there would be enough chaos and false information floating around that they it wouldn't be that simple. I guess they wanted the whole situation explained neatly in the first episode, but it seemed like crap.
Also, how does everyone know the date and time of their flash forward? If you gave me a glimpse of a random 2 minutes plus in my future, I probably wouldn't notice the time, and I'd probably be less likely to know the date.

The same thing happened in the book. It was incredibly quick that they figured out:
1. EVERYONE had the flashforward.
2. The exact date/time of the flashforward.
3. The exact length of the flashforward.
4. Flashforwards were windows into the future.
5. People without flashforwards would be dead.
On 9/11 I remember watching the news and for about 5 hours an insanely amount of wrong information was being reported. If the flashforwards were to happen, there would likely be millions of deaths in the U.S. alone. News reports would be chaotic and completely inaccurate for a long time.
In the book its not the Large Hadron Collider that caused it. it's actually something more boring.

i'm still on board, but it's gonna take a pretty high suspension of disbelief to keep going.
everyone (except for the FBI guys) seems to be pretty nonchalant about the whole thing. Sulu's chick wants to have their wedding on "D-Day", people are discussing their FlashForwards like they're trivial bits of entertainment, 2 different people in this episode pretty much accepted "nothing much" as a valid answer to "what did you see in your future?", etc.
plus, more misplaced comic relief with the fat, stupid Customs guy dancing in his underpants and spilling his bong water.
p.s. who's funeral was that near the end of the episode?

It was the funeral for the 8 agents that died. I agree on the stupid comic relief. What was really stupid is that they didn't realize the crow thing until the nazi guy said it and then went to magic-crow-database to find out how many died. They should have bought up the crow thing from the beginning and simply had the nazi play them.
Also, the female fbi agents reactions were unrealistic and melodramatic.

I just wish they'd cut the melodramatic nonsense and focus on the parts of the show that really work. There's a certain creepiness/ominous feeling that REALLY works, but it's getting over shadowed by the idiotic relationships these people have!

yeah, same here. for me, it's just "the main FBI guy", "Sulu from Star Trek", "the DA guy from Law & Order", "the main FBI guy's wife", "the guy with the autistic kid", etc...
actually, Sulu has some russian name or something, but i can't remember. Vladimir?

I think that the producers are fans of Ron. The suicidal doctor keeps calling Penny, doctor B.

Did anyone see Flashforward's return last night?
A very solid two hours which moved the story along briskly, answering some questions and giving some great insight into the story. Even the whole "preachy" subplot worked well, especially the opening scenes, which were great.
Ratings were at a series low, however, so things don't look good. If it does get the axe, I hope they're able to complete the story.

Check out the ending of "Life on Mars" (the American version) for what happens when you get cancelled early and have to wrap everything up as quickly as possible.
Yeah, it's probably better if they just let things drop.

I loved the episode(s) last night, but I realized that not that many people must have watched because no one had anything to say about it today. I was waiting for a couple of people who I know were watching the 1st few episodes to mention via call/text/facebook message about how the "Detroit" stadium turned out to be Old Yankee Stadium (with extra tiers CGI'ed into LF & RF near the poles) in the wide shot & New Yankee Stadium in the close shots last night.
But not a peep today...what gives? Is everyone going to give up on V because of the stupid long hiatus, too? That would be sad if it cost both of these shows their chance at a full season.

Since they film in LA, I'd figure that "Detroit" stadium was just CGI'd.... with close ups of him sitting in the park could have been filmed at any local stadium.
V may suffer the same fate. They only had 4 episodes and they weren't even that memorable. ABC's track record in screwing shows this way is unparralel... they did the same thing with Lost, losing millions of viewers.

I watched the first few episodes, but stopped because of the following:
1. The acting is really bad.
2. I just watched the Lost series, and looking back on it Flashforward is a crazy Lost wanna-be. It reminds me of what Ron says about Leno/Conan not doing anything DIFFERENT with a talk show. ABC found something that works and now they're duplicating it.
3. Too much of the show is dedicated to melodramatic nonsense that I don't care about. Who cares about the relationship with the Japanese woman? The FBI guys family life? All that stuff is nonsense to me.
4. Too many stupid plot points. No one noticed birds were dying until the nazi told them? Why on Earth would the government cut funding to a program that was having great results? How brain-numbingly annoying is Harold's fiance?
5. Stupid comic relief scenes seemed totally unnecessary.
6. Characters ALL unlikable, except maybe Harold.

Yeah - who the hell figured that showing a few episodes and then going on hiatus for 6 months works? You need to throw a new show down people's throats for as many episodes as possible so they can identify and develop a desire to see what happens next.
I would fire every one of them that thinks this is a great way to develop a new series. They prob had a limited start up budget that would only allow 6 episodes and then wait for more revenue to complete then at a later date.

I think it was ABC's strategy that they'd just do a few episodes and judge from there in order to save money. I think this may work with a comedy, but I agree with you that it doesn't give the audience a chance to become attached to a dramatic show like Flashforward.

I want to like this series but they are making it harder and harder. An agents fiance muscles her way into the FBI and now is going to represent the only person that they have captured with possible ties to the blackout? Come on!
Alos, the terrible acting of the dude at his daughter's bday party? He is so bad - " Mmmm that frosting on the cake is sooo good" God you suck.
There is not enough back story divulged yet to really make you want to know the back story about how and why this blackout occured. I getting to the point of not caring anymore.
I predict that this is a 1 and done series but they could have taken this concept and really made it something cool.

I agree with everything you said. The show has a great premise, but the subplots are TERRIBLE.

Well - there are only 4 episodes left to the season, and it looks unlikely that it will be renewed for another season. That is really a shame as it has FINALLY developed into a really good show!
It is true that they were inconsistent - -having a good episode that advanced the plot followed by a episode that went nowhere. But now, with new revelations, its exciting
and the characters have been developed.
I really hope it gets renewed but - at least i hope they end the season with some gusto.
haters need not reply, but anyone else watching this show??

I watch both V and FlashForward and I don't see that one is any better or worse then the other. Makes you wonder how they decide which one to keep and which to axe.
I find they don't give ppl a chance to get invested in any TV shows nowadays. A lot of times they are canceled after just a few episodes.

I DVRd this past weeks fhow...and im not sure there is any point im
seeing it. The season finale will be a cliffhanger (writers didnt know)...
It sickens me that Americans dont watch this excellent show but watch Dancing with Stars (highest rated show week after week) and American Idol. Americans are truly morons.
