Has anyone been watching this show on Food Network? I love the concept of it. It's my new favorite food show. I got the chance tonight to eat at Uncle Lou's Southern Kitchen which was on the "With my hands" episode. Guy Fieri said their fried chicken was the best thing he ever ate with his hands. I went into the place expecting to be blown away and it even surpassed my expectations. I had no idea fried chicken could be so good! It's in the ghetto of Memphis (all of the Memphis is the ghetto) but it's worth the risk of being shot to eat there!

I am not a big fan of fried chicken. The best thing I ever ate was......hmmm.....fresh, grilled shrimp in Texas. I don't remember the restaurant name it was in Aransas, TX.

My Moms home-made Borscht. The recipe was passed down from my Ukrainian Grandmother, and we have it every year on Christmas day.

"Uszka, (meaning "little ears" in Polish), are small dumplings usually filled with mushrooms or minced meat. They are usually served with borscht, though they can be eaten alone. They are a part of traditional Christmas Eve dishes in Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine, and are either floated in the soup, or eaten as a side dish"

That's a good one. We have a restaurant here that serves it up using the real Quebec curd cheese.

Even BK and MCDonalds in Quebec serve poutine. The calorie/fat stats are astounding.

I SO miss my mom and my dad's cooking. My grandfather used to make his own kielbasa. Too bad he died before I was old enough to enjoy it.

Years ago I went to a Chinese wedding reception (ceremony for family only) at one of those banquet halls in Chinatown. The food was PHENOMENAL; traditional Chinese food and not Americanized Chinese food. I had a dish that was the best thing I ever tasted--
shrimp in a sweet sauce with walnuts and broccoli rabe. We went back to the banquet hall for a regular dinner. No dice. I've found similar dishes with broccoli instead of broccoli rabe but it just wasn't the same.

Following the theme of the show, which is to identify a dish from a specific restaurant you have visited, I'll choose the "Tortellini Pinnochio" from Pinnochio's in Manhattan as my favorite pasta dish.

Cheese filled tortellini with a light cream sauce, proscuitto, mushroom and peas. It's incredible. The dish itself is a familiar one for italian places, but I've never had this dish taste so good.

The place also has the best calamari I've ever had. It's on first avenue between 90th and 91st street. It's small, but the service is great. The owner Mark waits on you himself, and everyone I know who has gone there has loved it.

Choose a type of dish and go with that. That's what's done on the TV show.

For instance, where did you have the best burger or steak or BBQ or dessert. If you have a place where you had the best of a certain type of food, go with that.

That sounds exactly like the best Itallian dish I've ever had. It was called Tortellini al la Panna from Moscatiellos in Troy, NY.

I am torn between 2:

the Yucatan's Yaxche's blackened stuffed turkey with ground beef and boiled egg topped with a smoked pepper sauce served with fresh veggies is to die for.

Going down to the pier and buying a cooler full shrimp the we boil, fry, saute, and grill the shrimp and serve with beer. This is a major family event because there is a lot of shrimp.

yep, we use to go to canada to drink when we were 19 and thought it was cool to spend $5 on a beer. After 2am we would go to this dive and get pountine, fuck it is bad for you.

I have made it at home before, but I cannot seem to find the right gravy.

The best steak I ever had was at Pacific'o, a restaurant in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.

It was, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite meals.

The ambiance - beach-side dining - was great. The weather was perfect, and so was the company - my wife on our honey moon.

The service was top notch, and there's just something about eating a thick, sizzling steak with an ice-cold beer and the waves crashing that is just perfect.

Just looked at the menu for the Brooklyn location. Besides the lamp chops and fish, you have one dinner entree option: Steak. No option of cuts, no marinades, no bacon wrapping, no peppercorn crust, just steak.
