My dad's aunt owns a sugar shack in Quebec, we get a bunch of cans every spring freshly boiled!!
i love maple syrup, if I happen to have a can of it opened in my refrigerator, I'll take sips out of it when I want something sweet.

It's amazing when you have real maple syrup from either Canada or Vermont compared to the commercially available crap such as Aunt Jemima or Log Cabin, which is basically high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavoring, and artificial coloring.
What a shame the price difference is also as astounding.

Hummm....Aunt Jemima doesn't stand a chance....she makes syrup but not maple.

One place to look for cheap, real syrup is TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Home Goods if you have them near you. Around here they often have real 100% maple syrup (not sure what grades) for very cheap. FWIW.

Stayed in Edmonton for a week (awesome place) and the diner in the hotel had great pancakes & syrup. Dont know the name of the brand but you cant go wrong with Canadian MS (at least they are good for something)

Hey...I like Log Cabin.
It's ok in a pinch but pales in comparison with the real deal.
Though there are Corn Syrup freaks out there who prefer it ... poor misguided souls.

On Eggos and microwave flapjacks it's fine, but on thick french toast made on week old bread the real stuff is hard to beat.
As good as it is to begin with, I actually put salt on top of my pancakes/french toast when using real syrup. Fucking fantastic.

That's because those things are not maple syrup. Look at the label, they say pancake syrup. There is no maple in there. The maple flavor is made in a chemical lab, most likely in New Jersey.
Real maple syrup is expensive, but you use very little in comparison to that artificial crap.

That was his point.
I remember when gasoline prices were close to $4/gal last year or the year before...
The container of Maple Syrup that I posted above was close to $30...
It's now back down around $17...which is still a luxury, but totally worth it over that vile liquid they call pancake syrup. Yuck...it actually makes me nauseous when I smell it.
