As of this friday I will be accepting a bid to the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity here at my school, Franklin & Marshall College. For the next 3 months I will be a bitch/slave for over 50 guys, and be subject to dirty tasks beyond my wildest imagination. Along with that the time I devout to my school work, my girlfriend, my friends, and of course you people and this fine message board will be decreased severly. I ask that all of you don't forget about me because I have a feeling I won't be posting as much as I would like to. I am about 20% excited for this and 80% scared. I know the only reason why I am scared is because I am walking into something and I have no idea what's in store for me. Well I guess that's all I have to say, just don't forget about me, and if any of you have been through this process before I could definatly use some words of encouragment and/or tips on how to survive.

Yeah, sorry, I'm not into the idea of paying for friends or going through some humiliating initiation to be a member, but hey, good luck to you anyway.

Good luck, bro! I only ask that you promise to never sacrifice your dignity for anything, least of all a Frat membership.

And as far as us forgetting about you...well now, what's it worth to ya? ;)

First off I'd like to say thank you to you guys, although most of you don't agree with what I'm doing, you are wishing me the best of luck and supporting my decision. Now, for one quick second I'd like to tell you all when I decided to join the pathetic ranks of a "frat boy". The way my school is set up, social life revolves around fraternities. When I say that I mean there is NO other way to party, NONE. Now, the only way to get into a frat party, if you are a guy, is to be a member or be on the guest list. Now I would have made it fine just crusin on through college being on all these guests lists, but after last semester all frats decided to end guests. Now I am faced with the choice of either joining one, or having no social life whatsoever. If it were just for me, I may opt for having no social life, but on occasion I do like to go out, and plus whenever my girlfriend comes and visits, I would like to be able to take her out and have a good time at a party. She has been here many times before, and she loves the frat parties we have. So, I am doing this not because I want to sacrafice anything or buy myself friends, but because I feel I am picking the lesser of the two evils. I know it seems dumb, but that's the way it is. Thanks again guys!

since it seems like i'm the only one in a frat i'll do my best HHH. My advice to you would be to learn as much as you can about each brother, a lot of pledging is studying and the more you know the better off you'll be. plus make time for your schoolwork, i got a 1.3 the semester i pledged, it's really hard but try to find time. also, realize that whatever you do you'll be wrong, that's what pledging is about. no matter what you do the brothers will punish you so try not to take it too seriously. it's mostly a lot of mental games, obviously with some physical shit involved. just be tough and don't drop, people who get cut from the program is one thing but i have no respect for people who drop. just hang tough and become best friends with your pledge class, they are the only ones who will help you. i know how everyone thinks of frat boys, i can see it in the threads. i was totally against frats and hated frat boys, but not all frats are like that, some of my best friends in my life i made while pledging. pledging is the best and worst time of your life, just don't quit and be prepared to never sleep again. good luck, and just be that damn good.

it's true,
it's damn true!
