When I was a kid, we got a new refrigerator and the box that it came in was huge, and we would bring it into the yard and make a fort out of it. We cut holes in it for windows and put benches inside for seats. We had a lot of fun with it. When it started getting ratty, we brought it to a hill and slid down the hill in it. We even used it s a sled on the snow.

This was long before there was anything like the internet or video games. I noticed last night as I was walking that it was a nice night and did not see many kids out playing. I think a lot of these kids are huddled over their computers and nt doing anything physical or gtting fresh air, and I think they are missing out.
I remember riding my bike for miles and miles.

I always said that my kid wouldn't be one of those "inside kids". Then we had one, and I am already seeing that in a neighborhood of kids her age, she's not going to have anyone to play with outside. Sure, mine will go out and play, but by herself? Stupid kids and their video games...

We turned the refridgerator box into a tank.
3 or 4 of us laid it on it's side, put it at the top of the hill, climbed in and ran it down the hill. Running over anything that was in the way.

Hours of good, dangerous fun.

There was a family who had around four kids down the road from me. Those kids were always outside playing together.

Its kinda said that parents let amber alerts scare them out of letting their kids play outside.

Ever notice how few parents let their kids walk to and from school?

Hell, I've known chicks who have broken their cell phones and have seriously asked me how they were supposed to get to work without em.

we would collect several cardboard boxes and take them apart.we would cover them in glue and resin we made our selve and fasten the different lengths together. Then when finished, at night we would launch off the top of a building and fly over the Berlin Wall as the guards tried to shoot us down into the mined Dead Zone. we didn,t have the option to build a fort with them....

My father also had a friend that worked in Kennedy airport and one time he got us a airplane innertube. We filled it with air from the bicycle pump (it took hours!) And we ended up with a 8 foot donut! We had a lot of fun with that bad boy! We didn't have a pool or anything, but we rolled it around and all us kids could fit inside it. When I was inside it, I felt like I was in a giant black box!
