Playstation 3, OS/Update 3.0

Anyone else notice any huge differences when installing the new software this AM? I have some bouncing stars in the background and mounting issues when trying to access my file servers from my box upstairs.

This update was obviously done for more Playstation Store access (they have inserted it into every nook and crany of the OS now).:thumbdown:

They wanted to revamp everything with the new Slim coming out. I haven't had any issues yet, but the larger font annoys me a bit.

It now takes forever to load the Videos that I am sharing. I also keep getting "DNLA errors". Fuck this god damned update.

After the update I noticed that the system automatically disabled my media server connection - I had to turn it back on and it took about twice as long to get my PC/PS3 connection up and running - after that getting movies to play was as quick as usual.

I do like the message reminder in the upper right, but the rest of that information panel thing looks like it was pretty quickly thrown together.

It looks like my Yellow Dog Linux still works on it (Fat PS3.)

The new font size sucks - they shouldn't have messed with that (or at least allowed users to toggle font/icon sizes.) They must think that the mouth breathing Slim owners have shitty vision.

Well, I did something as easy as remove my External HD and move it to a different one, restart the PS3, and now it is back to normal. Not sure why this caused an issue, but whatever.

I am very irritated by the font size. Also when you stop scrolling down a list, everything else but the one you stopped on disappears until you move it again.

Very little things, but very annoying.

One thing I do like about the new firmware is that when you have USB peripherals plugged in like Rock band instruments they don't automatically take up the first controller spot anymore. It used to be if you had them plugged in and started playing a game that wasn't Rock Band the instrument would take controller spot one and you would have to manually changed it. it was annoying and now they fixed it.

It was really annoying having to change to controller 1 everytime I want to play COD.

Version 3.01 is out. Completely fixed my file sharing challenges. Looks like Sony did some fixin'!

With the release of the FW 3.01 update, many thought that their issues with 3.00, particularly the one with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, will be resolved. But out of the frying pan and into the fire, comments at the PlayStation Blog indicate that 3.01 causes more problems than it solves. After updating, many users seem to have experienced problems with their Blu-ray drives. Bummer.

i think the ps3 stopped recognizing bluray files, or stopped being able to read them

Anyone know how to get flash videos to work without stopping everyminute? I always have to keep downloading the plugin but visiting the website - Adobe wont download.

Wow I'm so glad I read this thread. I'm finally getting a high speed connection and I was planning on updating my console.
