Any feel good stories out there?

This morning I was a ten cents short and the guy standing behind me flipped the cashier a dime on my behalf.

A year ago I got stranded and a couple picked me up and drove me to 2 locations in order for me to get the keys needed for re-entry. They dropped me off and I never saw them again.

Just random acts of kindness.

Not earth shattering, but enough to renew my belief in human beings as being essentially good creatures.

How about it? Any tales of someone doing you a solid for no reason at all other than because they could?

A stranger bought me my coffee the other day because I was in the same position as you.

I had only a buck and a half in my pocket and didn;t feel it necessary to use my credit card for the 1.88 cup of coffee.

A lady and her husband were in front of me and my friends waiting for a booth at a lunch place. When a booth came open, she let us take it since there were four of us and they ended up waiting about 10 more minutes.

I live in NJ. That should answer the question.

That only explains the smell.

I can't recall someone doing something for me. I am the one who does the nice stuff.

Helped a lady who was traveling with her kids change a tire at 4 in the morning and gave her directions to a tire shop that opened at 7 so they would not have to travel far on the doughnot spare.

Picked up an elderly couple that was walking to the courthouse in the pouring rain.

Why were they going to court?

Not sure why they were going. I just felt sorry for them walking down the road side with news papers over their heads. Dressed all nice too. They had about a mile left to walk when I picked them up.

I blew a tire while going across a small bridge and the truck beside me stopped when I did. This guys comes up and starts to help me with the tire changing. It was kind of weird but I was in a suit and I ended up letting him do all of the work. I tried to pay him but he wouldnt accept - so later at dinner I tipped the waitress an extra $20 for the good karma that was passed on by the tire changer.

some dude gave me a quarter to cover the $8.23(.23) , he helped me not get a ton of change and not have to give a $20, that would have earned him a handjob had he asked

I was at Disney a couple of weeks ago and some people gave us their fast pass to get on Splash Mountain and the next day at Epcot some other people gave us their fast pass to get on Soarin. The lines were ridiculous so I was really grateful. I gave some people my tickets to Thundermountain the next day.

I left my wallet on the bus yesterday.

The guy who found it called me this morning and I got it back.

He's right up there with Ronnie B on my hero list now.

Every time a good looking girl wears a low-cut top... That's all the niceness I need.

I'm sure it's not the last, but it's the one that sticks out in my brain, like two years ago we had really horrendous heat here outside of DC, and I live like five minutes away from some random protestant church that is basically next to the shopping center I frequent (supermarket, liquor store, gas station, dry cleaning, that type of shit) and I was pulling out of the parking lot, and this family who I think was the pastor or reverend or whatever, I'm not sure what the head of a specific protestant church is called sorry, they were literally stationed at the light giving ice cold bottles of water from ice filled coolers to every motorist for nothing. No donations, no flyers, no preaching, no nothing. They were just nice people helping people out. The only reason I knew they were that church's 'family' was cause my windows were down and I overheard one of the younger kids talking to the mom about it briefly while I waited for the light.
I don't know, it touched me because I was (as I am now) heavy into railing against crazy christian groups and their causes that I find abhorrent or those that I find self-congratulatory/money-seeking, and these people were none of those things, they just wanted to be nice to people, and I thought it was cool.

I do nice things for me all of the time, and I barely know myself.

I'm with razorboy. I actually will go out of my way to help someone. I'd like to say it's for their benefit, but the reality is I get enormous satisfaction helping others. So in a way it's selfish.

Everyone wins. You have to be careful in this lawsuit crazy world though. And no good deed goes unpunished.

One time, while working in god awful Baltimore, I removed a splintered wooden door from an off ramp. I got a splinter that infected my hand. That's the thanks I get.

X2

I have found myslef doing little things for strangers lately. Giving up a table and sitting at the counter in a diner, helping someone get something off of a high shelf at the store, stopping to let a car or two out of a side street at a tough intersection etc.

It really makes me feel good to see them smile back and wave thanks.

And just today a young driver let me out of a side street at a busy intersection. It made me smile. Mostly because it was a young driver.

I locked my keys in my car this morning at a gas station. Called a locksmith, waited for an hour and a half (dispatchers are liars- "he's 20 minutes away") until a random security work truck stopped for coffee, felt bad for me, and opened it up in two seconds.
 Saved me $60 and I was only an hour late for work!

I was at the bar in the city a month ago smoking a cigg when I saw a guy going through his pockets looking for change for the MuniMeter or whatever you call it. I walked up to him and just handed him $.50 that I had in my pocket. As he was about to put the change in the machine another passerby stopped him and told him to check the time....and it was past 7pm and ended up he didn't need the change after all. He ran into the bar, thanked me for the kindness and gave me $5 for a beer.

This isn't the most recent time, but years ago, my second wife and I were eating at Denny's with my three kids. An old couple came up to us and said we had the most well behaved kids they'd ever seen, and paid our bill.

I saw this car pulled over down the block, and it's a pretty deserted road. As I pull up, I see it's an old man and he's using a tire iron and the car is jacked up. I ask him if he needs help, and he thanks me, but says he just finished changing the tire, because he had a blow out. I asked if he needed me to call anyone and he was all thankful, but needed nothing. I can tell he appreciated the concern and the offer of help. The person in my car thought I was nuts, so I said, imagine if you were old and in that situation? Wouldn't you want or appreciate help?
I like helping people when I can.
