I've never seen a single episode, as it just never looked like something I'd like. Lots of people I really respect seem to love it, but I still never gave it a shot.
I have the Netflix on-demand box, though, and they just added all of the previous seasons. I'm tempted to give it a shot, but is there any way I can find the time to watch five seasons of hour-long episodes? If I can, is it really worth the time commitment?

yeah, it is definitely worth watching. It has ups and downs. I didn't watch about half of one of the seasons but came back to it. I think it is particularly strong now. I think it improved after they decided when they were going to end it.

Yes - yes - mother of god yes
absolutely watch the show. Its a natural DVD show (no annoying week break to see what happens next) so the netflix thing works perfectly

if u remember, Opie said he wants to be the very last person alive to see "Lost". so if u start watching it, u help him win. that is why im never going to watch it
Also, there is an episode where the main character is going to be eaten by a monster and at the last moment the main character says "the Replacements suck!" and the monster says "i agree, i won't eat you now". and the guy lives. it was a very weak shot i felt...
I watched the first episode and never watched again.

Without commercials, each episode is about 43 minutes.
It'll be well worth your time.

i went through this exact debate about 5 months ago. then i watched the whole series and it was outstanding.

BTW, the Netflix box manufactured by Roku is the greatest thing ever invented.

I watched the first episode and never watched again.
I did the same. Just couldn't hang after the 2nd or 3rd one.
Try this yourself.

I've been wondering the same thing. All my friends tell me to watch it, and it would be nice to be "in" on it. But since I already know that there's magic and time travel, it seems like it would be really hard to relate to the story. I guess I should at least give the first episode a shot.

I don't recall magic.

I've been a fan since season one, but I recently just started watching all of the episodes with my chick (she never saw it). It is totally worth it. It's great.
That's all.

Ive never seen it and think I'll eventually go out and get the box set or something. I figured once I missed a bunch I can't jump in late so thats why I've avoided it.
I can honestly say it's one of the three best TV shows I've ever watched (and the best network show I've ever seen).
You have to do the first four episodes, though, before you decide if it's a show you want to continue watching.
If you don't like it after the fourth episode, then feel free to quit, but I would say the first four are the appropriate decision making time on the show.

Rome and Arrested Development.
Actually I misspoke about network shows...I keep forgetting AD was FOX.

I liked Rome and LOVED Arrested Development, but the two shows I recommend to anyone is Lost and The Wire. Greatest 1-2 combo now available to watch in one giant superconglom fun festival.

that would be an excellent combination of shows to watch - Lost and the Wire. Speaking of the Wire, there is a Sundance series coming out in September about Newark, Cory Booker, gangs, cops that reminds me a lot of the Wire. It's called Brick City.
I will say, if anyone was to start watching Lost now, you could probably catchup in plenty of time for the final season.
If you end up liking it, it really consumes you like a disease burning through disc after disc of it.
I think I did the first two seasons, and three-quarters of the third in under two weeks to catch up in time for the end of Season 3.
The Season 6 premier is a good five months away. It's definitely doable. Once you start, it's basically all you'll want to watch if you like it.

If you don't like it after the fourth episode, go watch Transformers. You'd love that.

I know several people who've resisted this show, myself included during the first season, but once they watch, theyre simply hooked. It IS an addiction.

Watched the first 2 seasons on DVD and was watching around 5 a night - very addictive.
I am sad that the last season is coming up and then it will be gone forever.

Yeah... go ahead and power through all 5 years of foreplay in one month. The last season is right around the corner.
There's an unsatisfying climax coming up in season 6 that I wouldn't miss for the world.

Same here.
I won't say it's addictive - I could walk away at any time, I've just never wanted to. Saw my first episode in June and I'm watching Season 5 on bootleg right now.
I say watch it now since it's ending (and it's on Roku), by the time your ready to know the ending it will be waiting for you.

Just start watching on christmas vacation, you should be caught up by the time the new season starts, I hated getting caught up then having to wait a week until the next episode.
Or just wait until the whole series is done and you can watch them all in one month.
