View Full Version : Scones Are For Sissies
And Brits, but that's redundant.
They're awful. Dry as a fart.
Real men have pastries, not scones.

Scones always reminded me of somebody fucking up a cake recipe, but not admitting it, and saying "I meant to do that! I call them scones!"

Then you guys probably haven't had good scones then. When they are fresh they are awesome and are meant to be eaten with toppings like jam or preserves.

This only proves my point - they're disgustingly dry and you need some type of topping to make them the least bit palatable.
These scones are fucking delicous. Maybe uncle Greg should learn his food before he mouths off?

Fresh blueberry scones are the best, I have them at tea at least 2 times a month. I actually prefer mine without cream, but instead with a bit of butter.
The thing most people don't know about scones is that they are a bread, not a pastry. They used to be made with unleavened wheat and oats until rising agents became available to the masses. You can make scones a bit less dry if you add some sour cream to the recipe, but I like them the way they are.
