today during the segment discussing the beatles game, ron asked if dave thought the new game would be bigger than 'the rockstars'. :wink: then he said he thought 'this cowboy games gonna be big.' i'm 90% sure ron said he was doing another game after gta 4 a few months ago.

red dead redemption isn't the type of game i'd expect a non-gamer to be anticipating. therefore i think ron may have some voice work in this game.

Whattya think? I'm looking forward to it. I was disapointed to find that it doesn't come out for another 4 days. I never played the first one, but I did play Gun, and really enjoyed it. The problem with Gun was its scope. I think Rockstar has the pedigree to pull off an amazing sandbox style western game.

Don't think I'll do single player for a while, multiplayer is too much fun. Feels slightly MMO-ish with it's free roam as well as leveling and unlockables. The Mexican Stand-offs that start the matches are freaking awesome. Also, death comes quick in multiplayer which is a refreshing change. Most of my multiplayer experience is in games like Gears of War or Battlefield Heores where your character is a bullet sponge. In contrast, there were at least a couple times in every match where me and another dude both popped each other at the same time. The mix of both standard deathmatches along with free roam challenges keeps the action from getting to numbing.

Better off just getting a new 360, at $200 it's a lot less hassle. If you pick up a used, you run a pretty good change of getting one with overheating issues. With most older 360s it's only a matter of how long before it red-rings, the newer models are extremely more reliable with built in memory unit as well. Just my unsolicited two cents.

Voice acting is stellar. Normally I'm not a fan of long cut scenes, but in this game they have a more cinematic quality in both the dialogue and the writing. You're okay kicking back for five minutes and watching. My only gripe is the radar ripped straight out of GTA 4. Aside from that, I think this is one of Rockstar's best offerings yet. A demo would have been cool, but I think you can have faith that it's a bad-ass game.

I like it a lot and was just playing for a couple hours until the game glitched out on me while I was looting a dead guy. It wouldn't let me do anything after but move the camera around, so I turned of the 360.

You have to Lasso them. After that you hogtie them, pick them up and put them on your horse.

I'm not a big online player in general but I've been playing online for about an hour and it's pretty badass. If you are a big online player, I'd say drop the $60.

I found it, it's a combo on xbox. I'm finding the controls a little frustrating. I've never had this tough a time with a rockstar game. Trying to collect a fuckin bounty and I've failed four times now. The targeting seems really clunky. Last time, I killed the whole gang and then I was looting the corpses and a whole new gang materialised and killed me. One time, the little bastard escaped.

I was trying to do the Bonnie ranch mission where you follow the dog. Two guys were fighting and it said to apprehend them, but the only way I could stop them was to kill them. Seems a little harsh. Then the fuckin dog led me miles away from the ranch and nothing happened, and the mission apparently cancelled.

I also keep getting shot at by lawmen. I was out in the middle of nowhere with my gun holstered and I see two guys running up on me, shooting at me. I shot back and then I have a bounty. I've been playing the good guy so I don't know why the cops keep provoking me to shoot them. Once, I was walking through Armadillo, gun holstered, and they just started shooting me again. WTF?

I'm enjoying the game a lot, but it seems to lack the trademark Rockstar user-friendliness.

you should put the cheats on one night after you saved your real shit. Its epic. Put on invincibility, infinite ammo and diplomatic immunity. its the best

yea now you just put them in and they stay there and you can turn em on whenever you want. But once you do you cant save. So wait til you dont plan to save anything else

I don't think I've ever completed a rockstar game because of this. I've found a lot of the Red Dead missions tiring and overly complicated. Like when the barn was burning, why make me redo it 3 times because some faggoty ranch hand runs in front of the horse when you get outside of the fire. One time it failed me for "breaking the law". I don't understand what part of risking my life to save Bonnie's 3 nags can be construed as breaking the law. And the bounty missions are gay-ass. I've concluded that it is impossible to take a bounty alive. How does shooting someone in the foot three times kill them? But the game is amazingly fun when free roaming and looks fantastic.

You kill everyone else and that usually scares them. You also keep your horse close and hop on it then lasso them when they try to run.

I finally get the game yesterday..but had made plans so could not play...

I had to do stuff around the house today..and could not play...

Was set up for tonight..got some beer..smokes....and the wife makes plans to have my sister & brother in law come over..with my 9 year old nephew...great i guess I am fucked...worst part the little bastard only like wrestling games....GREat.....

I don't think I've ever completed a rockstar game because of this. I've found a lot of the Red Dead missions tiring and overly complicated. Like when the barn was burning, why make me redo it 3 times because some faggoty ranch hand runs in front of the horse when you get outside of the fire. One time it failed me for "breaking the law". I don't understand what part of risking my life to save Bonnie's 3 nags can be construed as breaking the law. And the bounty missions are gay-ass. I've concluded that it is impossible to take a bounty alive. How does shooting someone in the foot three times kill them? But the game is amazingly fun when free roaming and looks fantastic.

i got a couple bounties alive by lassoing them from the horse, hogtying them quick and then jsut riding away as you get chased

I just encountered Moutain Lions. Jeeeeez. Take a few shots to kill but damn they came out of nowhere.

I've been experimenting with using Bait to attract animals to kill. Coyotes seems to fetch good coin, so i try to get as many as i can.

I found it, it's a combo on xbox. I'm finding the controls a little frustrating. I've never had this tough a time with a rockstar game. Trying to collect a fuckin bounty and I've failed four times now. The targeting seems really clunky. Last time, I killed the whole gang and then I was looting the corpses and a whole new gang materialised and killed me. One time, the little bastard escaped. .

When you do a bounty mission, and keep the bounty alive, more gang members continue to come after you until you get him back to the sheriff.

I was trying to do the Bonnie ranch mission where you follow the dog. Two guys were fighting and it said to apprehend them, but the only way I could stop them was to kill them. Seems a little harsh. Then the fuckin dog led me miles away from the ranch and nothing happened, and the mission apparently cancelled..

When they fight just shoot your gun, but not at them. Theyll start running away. Lasso one and then theyll tell you to let him go. Mission complete.


I also keep getting shot at by lawmen. I was out in the middle of nowhere with my gun holstered and I see two guys running up on me, shooting at me. I shot back and then I have a bounty. I've been playing the good guy so I don't know why the cops keep provoking me to shoot them. Once, I was walking through Armadillo, gun holstered, and they just started shooting me again. WTF?..

When youre riding around, rabndom hero missions pop up marked by blue dots. The lawmen arent one of them. When you see the 2 guys running and shooting, they arent shooting at you, they are chasing a criminal. If you kill that guy, just stop. Get off your horse and loot him. The cops will thank you and your honor will go up.

Each night I do like 1 or 2 missions then just build up all my other shit like my hunting, treasure hunting and sharpshooting skills.

Anyone get the elegant suit and try cheating at poker with it yet? Its hard as shit. I was able to do it once and got caught 3 other times. When you get caught you have to go outside and duel. I actually had to duel with the shopkeeper. But I was nice and only shot his hand instead of killing him.

Same here. I've noticed that it locks up mostly after I die on a side mission (not part of the main story, such as bounty hunting), when the word DEAD is on the screen.

There is an achievement/trophy for doing 20 missions without switching your horse so I've gone out of my way to keep the same horse, but randomly a mission will say "get on your horse" and it's not my horse. Sometimes my horse has run off and I get the same awful horse, but there was actually one mission where my horse was gone and replaced with another fast horse.

If you buy a fast horse and it dies, just go to your inventory and click the paper and you get another one.

It does. I was about 95% when I finished all stuff Marston related (I had a ton of bounties and Mexican gang hideouts to complete for 100%.) Getting 100% for this game was a lot easier than any of the recent GTA games (at least for me.)

Finally able to finish the single player mode...Love the ending..one of the best. The whole mood and the music.

Very worth it.

I am trying for 100%, but I can't get credit for claiming a bandito alive. I have brought in multiple bounties from chuporosa both criminals and banditos. It gives me credit for bringing in a bounty alive, but my outfit isn't updated.

Am I missing something? It is the only outfit piece I don't have besides the 100% outfit.

Make sure you bring in the bandito from the right area. Also make sure the bounty is for a bandito.

I had 99.5% and I missed on stranger..aztec gold...

I went to Escalera for a bounty and returned the bounty to Chulparosa. That gave me the outfit credit I needed. I had returned several, 8 or more, Chulparosa banditos, not criminals but banditos, and I didn't get the outfit piece.

Then, I got a Bandito bounty and when I went to there hideout, they let me mingle. Until I killed one of them, then they turned on me, but it was fun just walking among them.

I think I am at 99.2%.
The game is amazing, getting to 100% is tedious.

Yes it drove me nuts too..again look for Aztec gold, I think it in in the area towards the bottom of the map..where the mountains look like a curvy maze. It is next to where you meet the Spanish chick. Also another pain in the ass is getting the horses. Took me forever to find the top two. It is fun and I love the story line.
