Since we have a thread about common foods you've never tried, what about uncommon foods you have tried?

I tried chicken feet in a Manhattan Chinese food place. Not a fan.

Camel and ostrich steaks.

Big fan of ostrich, never had camel. I hear they have a camel problem in Australia so they may do the helicopter hunting with them.

Cock

I was wondering how long it would take someone to post cock.

I forgot about the penis until I saw the cock post in this thread. That brought back the memories of it that I must have repressed.

I just tried bone marrow and oxtails, which were previously things I fed my dog. I need to have the bone marrow that Anthony Bourdain had in Singapore, that looks amazing.

I eat tongue every once in a while, it's nice for tacos...

I had emu and kangaroo in Australia, neither is considered very exotic there.

I don't consider these strange but some of you might.

When I used to eat red meat, curry goat was fantastic (it's the first thing I'll eat if I go back to red meat), I also ate something we called titiri. I don't know what it's called in America; all I know is that it is a small fish almost like a guppy and makes a hell of a soup or accra. There was also agouti, I had that once didn't much like that one. Same goes for manicou (I think it's the exact same thing as a possum).

A pickled deer heart. It was like eating a rubber ball dipped in vinegar.
I also accidently ate wild squirrel legs. I swear I thought they were gamey chicken wings.

My redneck uncle lived with my family when i was in high school. I came home from school and was starvin. I could smell something in the oven, looked in, and it looked like baked chicken wings. So I took 2 out and stuffed my face. They tasted gamey and told my mom that the chicken wings didn't taste right. then she told me my uncle was squirrel hunting and that he was cooking them in the oven.

I ran over a jack rabbit and thought 'what the hell'. He was kind of tough. I also cooked a snapping turtle from my pond. It wasn't much to brag about either. I probably just didn't cook it enough.

It's not strange, but it's strange to me. I can't get enough Indian food. I spent years living near enough to Oak Tree road in Edison NJ that I drove it a few times weekly--the further you go down that road, the less English you find on the signs. People tend to sometimes call it "Little India". The stench that comes off of that neighborhood from all the Indian restaurants and groceries and houses......Eccchh.

Then one day I begrudgingly tried it at a buffet with a friend from work. I had a little bit of everything and loved it all. Now, I go to that same neighborhood sometimes more than once a week, with the express purpose of satisfying the craving for all things Indian.

All those wasted years being a racist...... First time I ever felt so bad about that. Decent people and wonderful food. Might need to get that for dinner tonight!!

Where I'm from that's as normal as steak. There is this thing called souse, it uses pig's feet and it's pretty good despite coming from a vile disgusting creature.

Indian restaurants seem to have a fondness for leaving the meat out on the counter all day without proper refrigeration, and merely shoo the flies off of it when they need to use it.

Oh, I don't go the shitty ones. Most of them out there I wouldn't set foot in, but the more upscale ones that usually don't see a lot of takeout business usually seem OK. I've spent years as a food salesman and can usually spot the losers and dirty ones. Usually I get takeout from this one place who requires reservations and proper attire. It's expensive but there really is a quality difference--I sometimes feel like the White Devil going in there by the looks I seem to get, and now that I know I smell like wet dog.......

But I don't care. That shit is like crack to me. I love it.
