I hear so many people claim different places s the best burger in New York City - Shake Shack, Corner Bistro, Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien, etc.
So what do members of RonFez.Net think is the best burger in NYC?
For me it's a toss up between the burger at Epstein's Bar (http://www.epsteinsbarnyc.com/) on Stanton St. or the burger at the Slainte Pub (http://www.slaintenyc.com/) on the Bowery.

I agree with Shake Shack, but I think that a great burger is a great burger and trying to classify what is the "best" burger is kind of useless. It's kind of funny, but some of the best burgers I've had in NY are at small diners in Queens. I personally think the worst burgers are at the burger specific lunch spots in Manhattan. They are more often than not small and dry.

I was in Manhattan for 10 years, and I never visited any of those three places. :wallbash:
But my favorite burger in NYC was at Rathbone's on 2nd and 87th across from Elaine's.
They were the juiciest burgers I've ever had at a restaurnt and served on english muffins. Great f'in burger.

I was surprised to see Donovan's mentioned after only 7 posts... I concur. It's a great burger and a good place to go for a Mets pre-game meal (only 2 stops on the 7EX to shea/citi). Burgers at Donovan's then down to "Saints & Sinners" for more beer then train to the game!
My "fancy lad" Manhattan choice is The Old Homestead. Ridiculous prices but it is the best burger I've had in a restaurant.

burger joint is over-rated. if it wasn't for it's location and ambiance no one would ever talk about it.
best for me used to be mchale's on 46th and eighth.

That's right down the street from me. Is it really that good? It doesn't look like it from the outside. Looks like just another mick bar.

Pretty good, but not as good as Shake Shack imo.

I love the Old Homestead. Never had a burger there, but every waiter is at least 65 years old and hate everyone. I've had the filet burger at the 21 Club, and that was overpriced and awesome.
Everybody should put on a coat and tie and have lunch at the bar at the 21 Club at least once. Shit, we should put together a posse and treat Ronnie B.
Burgers at Donovan's then down to the Queens Motor Inn for some pussy diving.
Fixed.

Just went here for the first time tonite and I can say honestly that I was thoroughly unimpressed. Decent and very expensive. Absolutely nothing about it blew me away. Not a great burger/bun/super fresh toppings/fries, etc...pedestrian at best.
Even though its a chain give me Five Guys, Shake Shack, Rathbones, and Jackson Hole in that order of nyc burgers Ive had.
