The defense should have known to go no matter what. If the whistle blows, then you stop.

That's dirty, but within the rules. The defense should have been more aware to what was going on.

trick plays are part of most sports, but that one is pretty slimy (though technically 'fair', since you're supposed to play until the whistle blows). the sad part is that the adult coaches probably made those kids rehearse that play during practice.
we pulled off the old hidden ball pick-off trick a bunch of times when i played first base in little league baseball. is that dirty?

We did something very similar on an extra point attempt to make a 2 point conversion once. Defenses are full of meat-headed neanterthals, so why not take advantage? I approve.

I don't consider that dirty, but in little league I imagine it would work every time so where the challenge? I've seen it done in college and thought it was a little bush league but hey, we were dumb enough to fall for it.

For kids? Filthy dirty. If the point is to teach kids how to play the right way, then what's the point? And before you say that the point is to win - which I agree with - there's a right way and
a wrong way, and trust me, deep down, those kids know they did it the wrong way.
Now, Michael Jordan did something similar in a game once. He dribbled
toward the bench like they were going to call timeout, everyone relaxed, then he drove to the hoop. The difference? He's in the NBA.

i agree 100%, i almost question some of the morals of the people that have responded so far. we're talking children here. yes, competition is healthy but do it the right way. theres plenty of time for that bush league stuff in high school, college and the pros.

Why isn't anyone saying the defense was wrong for sleeping on the play. Honestly, those kids learned a valuable life lesson about complacency.

The only thing this proves is that the defensive coach isn't much of a coach at all. Teach your kids that they go on hut. No matter what. He didn't have them prepared.
This wasn't a coach outsmarting ten year olds. This was one coach schooling another.

I liked the newer one better then the older one. But I think its very pussy moves and would have loved to see what of the players from the other team catch on a few seconds sooner and just lay the kid out. you know that both of those kids will act like they are super stars for years to come over a stupid play like that. how would he act if he got laid the fuck out?
PapaBear

In the AP version that has the reporters explaining it, they say the kid was acting like he was walking off a five yard penalty. The defense is pretty stupid, if they think players can just walk off penalties themselves. BAD COACHING!

One of the first things a coach teaches a player is to go when the ball moves. It's easier than math.
