I worked for DialAmerica part-time when I was in college.

They sell magazine subscriptions on behalf of certain organizations, they're not the organizations themselves.

You got commission for every sub you sold, and I think I averaged making about 18 bucks an hour. This was over 20 years ago!

I'd sell for Special Olympics, The Cancer Society, etc.

I think people were a lot nicer to telemarketers back then.

Back when I worked there we were instructed to give the information if you said you wanted to just donate. Since we didn't make a commission off of that, though, we tried like hell to sell you magazines.
