I rewatched this film a while back, and I just don't see what the hub bub is all about.

Other than the terrific dialouge and it being a tarantino film. It really didn't wow me.

Am I the only one who thinks this film is so-so. Not the epic film the show and a lot of people rave about?

Or maybe I need to go back and rewatch it again

try to watch it again & pretend it's 1992 before so many movies that came after it tried to have dialogue like it.

& pay extra attention to when mr blonde shows up in the warehouse. it's one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.

As said, context is important.

It's still amazing though. I love how little the camera moves.

You also have to admit that it did a lot with the only 1 room 90% of the movie was filmed in.

Tub bub.

Of course I dont know you, so it doesnt count, but I cant think of anyone I know who's seen this film that doesnt think it's a masterpiece.

I'm glad youre gonna give it another shot. Perhaps you were expecting too much the first time and kept reminding yourself how disappointed you were that you didnt allow the film to entertain you properly.

Good luck.

Yeah I think the fact that what is in that film has been so highly imitated since then, that it takes a lot of the kick out of the movie watching it today. Although myself, I still watch it now and think its fucking fantastic!

you got to look at it from a minimalist point of veiw. it is realy resembles a play more than a movie. a couple of outside scenes- most everything takes place in the wharehouse. the diner was probably shot in the same wharehouse.
take a look at we're no angels w/ bogart - relied more on writing than sets and explosion. a snake inane cage that was never there. res-dogs is a throw back to better writing..... is it fantastic ? probably not. is it fantastic compared to its contemporarys? absolutley.

Well, I dug my wall mount out of the garage after moving a year ago and mounted our TV like it should be. I also dug out the luggage containing all our DVDs. I always gave my wife shit for buying DVDs, telling her that in a year it would be like having boxes of useless VHS. Going through the collection, I was surprised at how many good films we have on disc. I decided to watch Reservoir Dogs for the millionth time. What a fucking film. I'm ten minutes in and as Little Green Bag ebbs I notice one of the million Tarantino touches that I never saw before. As Mr. White drags Orange in and lays him on the ground, almost imperceptibly he puts the safety on the pistol in Orange's hand. He doesn't take it away from the dying man. He doesn't ignore it. He put's the fucking safety on!!! Amazing.

Items in the background of the warehouse, in order of appearance:

When White brings Orange in, they pass the rear end of a tan hearse draped in plastic sheeting. Pink passes by it from a different angle when he enters.

A wide ramp leading up into the upper level, upon which White places the mortally wounded Orange.

A bunch of folding wooden chairs.

When White and Orange discuss things in the side room. there are Plastic jugs of chemicals in the side room, as well as rubber hoses hanging from a utility sink. There is what appears to be a formaldehyde pump near the sink and hoses. An eyewash station hangs above the sink.

5 gallon glass carboys in plastic milk crates on the work bench behind the "Stuck in the Middle" radio.

New coffins standing on end, some wrapped in plastic, others wrapped in brown paper. These aren't visible until Blonde enters, even though everyone else has passed by them when entering.

I never realized that they were in the basement of a funeral home.

Fast Eddie actually says "What in the sam hill is goin' on in here?!" when he comes back. Odd choice of lingo for a junior crime lord.

Anyway, I'm on to Taxi Driver today in my Dusty DVD Film Fest. If only I had a fresh slice of apple pie with yellow cheese.

Then again, Mr. Pink is the only one who actually survives the movie. Maybe.

I'm pretty sure he gets smoked by the cops. You can hear the confrontation faintly while Orange admits who he is to White. Even a physical specimen like Mr. Pink could probably not get out of that one.
