When I was a kid my elementary school collected a few drawings, writings and keepsakes from each grade. Then they buried it all in a metal container. They said they were going to dig it up in 50 or so years and kids in the future would have a glimpse of what '80's kids were like.

Did anyone else do this?

Ever be one of the 'future kids' who gets to dig one up?

Is that what it's called? When I was young, we made time capsules for a couple of cats and several hamsters.

Yes, we did this in the 4th grade. It was fun, but I don't remember what we put in it.

I've never been involved with one. I wonder how many cop and CSI type shows have used time capsules in their stories.

I buried one when I was little, then 50 years later Nicholas Cage dug it up and all the numbers I had written on a piece of paper ended up being clues to every disaster this country has had the past 50 years. So that was neat.

then did aliens come and save some kids but no one noticed and the aliens handed out little black rocks for no reason and then the kids were left with bunnies and nothing else on an empty planet as the aliens flew away?
