One Dead Fred

I thought it was really cool, until I tried to describe the story to my girlfriend. She's practicing the one eyebrow raised look for the ability to say, "seriously?" in one glance. She just looks like she's trying to take a shit, but that also seemed appropriate. Somehow they gloss over why this big ship full of refugee aliens comes to a stationary hover above the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. Turns out they have weapons that are far superior than the humans. The refugees trade these for cans of cat food. The fuel for their ships also changes humans to alien? One of the aliens is really smart and knows how to start the ship back up if he can get to it. Why didn't he do that before they drifted to Earth?
Once past these parts, it draws you in if you can recover from your confusion. The acting is pretty good, the special affects are solid, and the action has some good tension. If this isn't already a video game, it will be. I think I still like the movie.
