I basically just got dumped. Two year relationship with a girl who I absolutely loved. Granted my over sentimental ramblings prove that I'm a softee, I really would not mind if I never saw another female in my life but her. She was drop dead gorgeous. Was on the same length as me, until now I guess, and jsut everything that I wanted in someone. I'm 21 and it's stupid but this hurts so fucking much right now. I've finished a bottle of wine cause I wanted to cry and I couldnt before. And now I'm drunk and sad. I hate this. Sorry. Go on about your day.

I remember being curled up in the fetal position, naked, lying on a hard wood floor crying. When I tried to get up...I slipped in my pool of tears and banged my head on a cast iron coffee table.

A wise man once told me..."You'll feel a lot better about this two years from now."

Why don't you come on over to the Most Posts Win thread buddy. Myself and the rebellion will give you something else to think about.

I also like to listen to Big Band music during a break up. Something bout it.......

Sorry, budday. If she broke up with you then she just wasn't the one. Maybe this was a good thing, saves you from more heartache in the future. I know this seems impossible, but before you know it you'll look back on this as a bump in the road.

anyone that says a similar thing hasn't happened to them is living an overly protective life...it takes a real man to put yourself out there again...I hope things soon look up for you...

I'm downloading the swingers soudntrack. That's a hopeful thing. Big bad voo doo daddys. Fuck.

I know it's no consolation right now, but in 10 years you will look back and probably have hurt 10 times that much at some point after... and this pain will not mean much.
Wail in it for a bit, soak it all in and then get up and feel stronger because of it.
It's great to have loved and know the feeling of being loved... gives you reason not to give up on it and try and find it again.

I went though a bad break up a few years ago so I know it does. But I really don't know how to rebound from her. There will be others, but wow. She was someone who if she said she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me I would'nt hesitate agreeing to it.

I went through almost exactly the same thing at exactly the same age.Get drunk.Take the weekend to wallow in misery.Get up Monday and wipe the snot off of your nose and move on with your life.It sucks but looking back on the relationship today I know that we were destined for destruction at some point down the road.Be glad that it ended before you had marriage kids a house and other shit to deal with.I am.

I went through the same thing

started seeing the one I was "supposed to spend the rest of my life with", when I was your age and we broke up when I was in my mid 30s. It fuckin' killed me.

but I worked though it, made new friends and started seeing people again.

you will get through this in your own way, on your own time schedule, don't let anyone tell you its time to move on.

you will know when you're ready

hey I have been married and divorced and had a kid with someone and split up... I know how it is to invest a lot and get not much in return... it still will be ok as we all have come out on top!
Finding and being yourself, knowing what you want and finding someone who will not try to change you and will make you comfortable all around is what you should concentrate on... but until then take time to yourself and just enjoy your twenties!

I feel such a dick when I think of what other people have been through. It grounds me, really. I just, at the moment, feel bad. It'll get better with time I'm sure. I know it will. Time heals everything. I feel terrible equating this to anything ayone else has gone through. I know people have been through much much worse.

Put on Beck's "Sea Change", revel in the sadness for a week or so, then move on.

I had the exact same thing happen to me at your age. I was devestated and the worst part was that I was convinced that she was the only girl who would ever love me. But after some self-pity and a few dark months, I figured it was time to move on. She ended up marrying the guy after me and having kids with him. It killed me at first but now if I saw her, it would be like seeing somebody I used to work with. No big deal. Time has a way of curing all of this. It won't seem that way tomorrow or even maybe during the holidays, but it will soon enough.
My only advice is to use this time for self-improvement. I spent the rest of my 20s in a series of ~2 year relationships with some stints of single in between. It's a lot of heartbreak but you learn a lot about yourself and now I feel that I am a much more complete person and will find complete love someboday (plus you should be out and experiencing life in your 20s-not married and waiting for kids). This is something I could not have done if I married the girl at 21. You will soon learn that because you were loved once, you will be loved again. Next time, you might just be a more complete person. Good luck budday!

You'll think you're watching your life story. Why do I recommend this ? Because I was where you were , and like the guy inthe movie, I got over things. Its a great movie, & Zooey Deschanel is just so....mmm ..wow. But for some reason, even though it pulled at my still torn ( after 10 yrs) heartstrings, its uplifting.

I went to a party. I was going to text her when I got home, but I called her and she sounded really tired so I didn't want to wake her. Instead I sent her an email when I got home. She thought I was at this party flirting with all these girls. I wasn't. She kind of lost it. We both basically got a lot of gunk out and now things are back to how they were.

People are marginalizing your pain.

This may be the most emotional pain that you will ever be in.

Just remember that you got to bang a hot chick before she got old and fat and wrinkly.

I was 21 when I lost my HS sweet heart to the Army moving me around. I wanted to marry her, spend my life with her, we were together nearly 5 years. I hurt, so badly that the first 6 months in Germany I did not go after any one although there were chances. I bounced back after my respite and here I am today. I still miss her, but more from the friendly aspect than the relationship. But, when I saw her nearly 8 years ago our friendship was the same as it was back in our early 20s which gave me false hope. There were complications that kept us from re-entering a romantic relationship, but every now and thin I still think of her.

Didn't take long. We're back together.

I am glad you are back together but the two of you need to have one serious discussion about what happened and how this will be prevented in the future or it will occur again.

no offense, but after 2 years shouldn't there be a lot of trust and communication in a relationship? To break up over that without having even talked about it seems kinda immature.

QFT! Big time! that is exactly what I was going to say to him.

keith...if at this point she still blows up without coming to you about something she thinks or feels...then that means she doesn't know how to talk to you and could hold something even more important back (like....I slept with someone else) I know you are all gaa gaa over her and want to believe everything she says ect. but it's OK to use your head AS WELL AS your heart in matters like this.

good luck budday
