Why Bob? You have only a few good years left and you want to be remembered for that?

OH, I just thought he started singing.

Would love to hear tom waits singing silver bells.
And I don't see how this is embarrassing, unless you've heard it?

I haven't heard it, but come on, a Christmas album?
He might as well be doing infomercials.

I love bob dylan. I dont think he even understands the concept of "embarrassment." Hes above it. I dont like xmas carols, but I will def listen to this album.

At least Johnny Cash went out like a champ on his cover album finale.

This isn't what he'll remembered for. So what? I heard the same nonsense when Willie Nelson sang the theme to Brokeback Mountain. Does anyone remember that?

You apparently do.

Yes, because I told anyone who was upset for doing so that it wasn't a big deal and it would in no way affect his fan base. This is a classic case of "this is not what I'm use to!"

Not at all. Its a case of "I know Christmas albums suck, and every other star who has made one has embarrassed themself."
It's OK: Jews can make Christmas albums.

No surprise. Everything after Blood on the Tracks has been an embarrassment anyway.

The Temps made one also A.J.
I dont like hearing the same thing over & over (pop music for example).
So a new Xmas album by almost anyone is welcome IMO.
East side Dave and mom. Are you reading this?
The man is pushing 70.
Do any of you really think you'll be the same person at that age as you are now?
I just find it odd that everyone wants their heroes to remain eternally young.
I'm a Rolling Stones fan. I know they'll never put out anything like they did in the late 60's and early 70's.
How could they?
Their lives are completely different. THEY'RE completely different.
Ditto for Dylan and everyone else from that generation.

If they are still putting out music, doesn't that give us the right to analyze and criticize it while still enjoying their old music?
My point wasn't really that his new music sucks, it was that it is embarrassing that he has reduced himself to releasing a Christmas album.

He hasn't reduced himself. He just does what he wants.
The Temps made one also A.J.
The Temps are Jewish?

People have the right to judge any artistic output, but they have a responsibility to atleast consume that output first.
I wont buy this album, I dont buy new Bob Dylan albums, but I do like that he's ballsy enough to just not give a shit, which has been the story of his whole career. Maybe the man likes Christmas music.
And I know he was born jewish, but didn't he convert?
Not to mention most Christmas songs are about a jew to begin with.

Well, this "embarrassment" is available now.
I wonder if they'll be protests?

I've heard the entire thing.
It is exactly what you would expect.
But don't knock it until you've heard it. It's not that bad actually. He's a modern day Louis Armstrong.

My original post was nothing against Dylan his outstanding career. I am a huge fan.
My point was that it saddened me to see such an icon make such a hack move.
If you are too old to create new music, just do nothing at all. Or at the very least, go Johnny Cash and make a cover album.

You people do realize this is for charity right?
This isn't him giving up on his career.
He also just put out an album earlier this year.
Oh and another thing, He's Bob fucking Dylan. Nuff said.

It's not even that bad of a christmas album, listen to it before you knock it. I mean don't expect it to be something fantastic, but It's worth a listen.

Have you heard his last two albums, both full of new music and both out within the last 3 years?
He clearly isn't too old to make new music.

Plus this ... was hilarious! How does one search all over and overlook Dylan's official site?! Wikipedia would have also supplied you with the info you sought.
Anyway - The album is, as Spankyfrank has pointed out, exactly what you'd expect. It's the voice of Bob Dylan singing the songs of christmas. I got my copy, go get yours.

To be embarrassed one must have shame. Bob Dylan is above such lowly emotional attachments. (Though he was once prone to heartbreaks.)

This video is oddly terrifying. Dylan kinda looks like the santa from the heart shaped box video. Weird shit but not a terrible song.
