when I sign on. The computer tells me " Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted contact your administrator"

it then says Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.

Are we files lost forever????

seems like a Roaming Profile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaming_user_profile) issue. if it's a work pc, you probably don't have the permissions to fix it even if you know what the problem is.

are you using a pc that you don't normally use?
