There are a bunch of shows that I personally love, but got really bad.

I enjoy parts of the third season of Arrested Development, but they were REALLY reaching with that whole Rita wearing the MRF braclet (They thought it was MR.F, but it was really Mentally Retarded Female. Dumbest shit ever).

There's a bunch of shows on TV now that need to end. 30 Rock is jumping the shark hard, despite all the nominations and shit, they're reaching.
Always Sunny in Philidelphia, too. I own all the seasons that are out on DVD and love the show, but parts of that last season were absolutely unwatchable. I'm not saying I dislike the people in it or the work they do, they just need to move on.

Ricky Gervais really is smart when it comes to ending things while they're good.

The 70's and 80's were ripe with those shows that didn't end soon enough....

All in the Family was insanely bad at the end.

Sanford and Son got so bad that a fat white guy moved in with Fred after Desmond Wilson left the show. I couldn't even make that up.

Dude!

I was just talking about the last season of Married With Children the other day.

Al and Peggy getting divorced, so Al moves to a shitty apartment next to the airport, and starts wearing a rug.

It ruined the fucking show.

Every fucking one of them.

I can't think of a single show that left the air leaving me wanting more.

Usually they hang on and try to milk their success until the ratings dwindle down to nothing.

Ever watch Six Feet Under?

Only show I can remember that felt like it ended at the right time.

Only show I can remember that felt like it ended at the right time.

They also had one of the only perfect final episodes of any show I can remember.

And did the original post say AD was on the air too long? That's crazy.

sitcom=

Character 1: straight line

Character 2: straight line

Character 1: setup line

Character 2: bad punch line

laugh track

Repeat, interspersed with awkward sexual innuendo

Most shows of this sort don't deserve airtime to begin with.

And I made the original post.
AD's last season was good, but they had to reach for a lot of things. That Rita storyline was horrific.

0 for 3 there Slumbag. Disappointed in you.

MRF was dumb but Ms. Featherbottom was smart? It was all genius.

The thing that bothered me mainly about MRF is they don't make people wear braclets saying what they are. I don't wear a braclet that says Logical Straight Male, or whatever. And it just happened to be the same initials as they spy? Stupid.

Mrs. Featherbottom worked because they all knew who he was, and he is a delusional actor.

I agree with Weeds. I tapped out when they moved to Mexico. The show was about the chick selling weed in the burbs. When they left, the show should've ended.

It really sent the show down a bizarro road from which it hasn't really come back. I lost it when the military was trying to kill Andy, but I still watch because I'm a Lemming. Although it was funny when the Sergeant just kept saying "SUCK YOURSELF!" any time Andy would try to explain himself.

rescue fucking me

i think i got yelled at in the "Rescue Me" thread for saying this season is sooooooo bad and everyone on twitter seemed to disagree with me, so i'm glad im not alone

there is nothing interesting going on anymore. EVen Tommy drinking again (i think its his 5th time drinking again) he isn't doing anything interesting. The show is so boring and flaccid these days.

it sucks because there aren't many hourlong dramas that i get myself into (they tend to be too time consuming to me) but "Rescue Me" is without a doubt in the toilet these days. Its gotten to the point where i barely pay attention to the episode anymore, i'll watch it while doing stuff on the computer. I know theres nothing going on that I'm going to miss

Same for Nip/Tuck.

“Damn that television … what a bad picture!”
“Don’t get upset, it’s not a major disaster.”
“There’s nothing on tonight,” he said, “I don’t know
what’s the matter!”
“Nothing’s ever on”, she said, “so … I don’t know
why you bother.”

We’ve heard this little scene, we’ve heard it many times.
People fighting over little things, and wasting precious time.
They might be better off … I think … the way it seems to me.
Making up their own shows, which might be better than T.V.

While that certainly hurt it, it was the writing. They should have gone for a five year show, and planned the story arc to account for that.

The central core stories got so ridiculous because they kept trying to keep the thing going.

King of the friggin Hill went on for way to many years. Also, remember way back when, the Simpsons where considered edgy and special interest groups where protesting the show? That was when that show was at its glory seasons 4, 5, 6, 7... When the simpsons became the show the special interest groups liked and was considered safe watching, that is when it went down hill and should have gone off the air. Seasons 12 on are just garbage for the most part. Was one of the greatest shows ever but it needs to go off the air.

I bought the DVD's as they came out. About a year ago I watched the entire series in order (one or two episodes a night). You forget how great that show was the first three seasons and how bad it was near the end. Never mind Johnny Cakes, just about every episode while he was in that coma dragged.

Yeah, but that's really hard to pull off. Babylon 5 actually did have everything planned out in a 5 year arc, but had to wrap up the main plotline early, at the end of the 4th season, because it didn't appear that the series would be back for the 5th season. It did get picked up, and they could wrap up other plotlines, but given that the main plotline was resolved, the show felt adrift.
