View Full Version : 2009 Lollapalooza in Chi-Town
Anyone going?
I'm heading out for the weekend. Going Friday and Sunday.
Probably hang out in the city on Saturday...grab a Molly's cupcake or two while I'm out there...take in the Sox (Cubbies aren't in town).
Also, anyone have any recommendations for food & bars to check out while I'm there?

If you go to Molly's, go to The Other Side Bar. Its on the same street a couple doors down.

Really underwhelming lineup this year. A ton of bands I like, but really nobody that I love and need to see to suffer through the crowds and costs and heat. After Pitchfork I'm kinda festival-ed out in my old age.

If you like ribs then you need to check out the Twin Anchors. It's not far from Molly's; just go south on Clark a few blocks and then West on Eugenie like two blocks and it's right there on the corner of Eugenie and Sedgewick. If you want Chicago pizza in a fun dive-y-type bar while in town I reccomend Pequod's at the intersection of Clybourn and Webster.
Don't go see the Sox. You might get out of the Southside alive, or at least not sold into a meth-fueled slavery ring.

That's kind of how I feel about it, but sometimes I think that works a little bit more for the festival atmosphere.
It wasn't my idea to go...my buddy is a big fan of the Killers (who I really couldn't care less about) and talked me into it, but there's a lot of bands I'm interested in checking out and it's a good chance to sample some of them live.
Although, I'd love to find a way to get Arctic Monkeys after-show tickets at the Metro, but it's sold out, and I don't want to pay double-face on StubHub as of yet.

I have to take that chance so I can write off U.S. Cellular on my stadium checklist.
But I'll make sure to bring one of these:

I'm with you, man. The thougth of wading into a crowd like that just horrifies me now.
I'm gonna just sit around and listen to "Daydream Nation" again and complain about how these damn kids wouldn't know "alternative music" if it bit them in their punk asses.

Hey grandpa, take your Pearl Jam and Soundgarden to the classic rock station!
