The championship game is this Sunday at 3:00pm at Giants Stadium between the two-time defending champion USA and our arch-rival Mexico. The game will be on the FOX Soccer Channel (or Univision for you cheap fucks who won't spring for the sports tier).

The reason I'm starting this thread now is because I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow and I plan on checking this thread on my Blackberry from the beach. So, I'll be counting on the soccer fans on the board to keep me updated.

Also, and very importantly, tickets are still available. If I wasn't going to be on vacation I'd be there. So, I would hope that any .Netters in the tri-state area, who can, will make the effort to make it out to the Meadowlands to support the USA (don't forget to keep me updated, though).

Nothing pisses me off more than when the US team is booed in our own country. We need to turn out in numbers so we can outnumber all the NYC busboys and New Jersey landscapers who I'm sure will turn out in big numbers for Mexico.

Whats amazing is that the US is using a B-Squad and they still made it to the finals. In 2007, they used the A-Squad. Then again, this years winners get nothing other then a trophy. Now, in 2011, the winners get an invite to the Confederations Cup to go along with the trophy. So, makes sense to hold back the better players. The US needs to keep getting the Confederations Cup invites. It will really help them in terms of getting better. Also, more international friendlys against top tier teams will help too. We are ranked 12th in the world. Be nice to be Top 10.

The US team is more like the C team. Hardly any of the bench guys from the A team are even on this roster.

I'll be watching today like I do whenever the US plays. Then I'll switch to ESPN2 to watch 2 World Football matches.

Six straight hours of soccer today.

The only one I recognize from the team they took to South Africa is Coach Bradley.

Lotta green in the stands, too.

BS yellow card on Logan Pause for kicking the ball into the goal after the whistle blows. I can't imagine how loud it is for the players. Probably can't hear anything b/c the fans and those stupid horns. They are even saying it so loud its hard to communicate.

Just got off the beach and turned on the tv. Just as I feared. A LOT of Mexican flags in the stands and booing of the US team. Bleh.

HALF TIME. 0-0

Mexico was good to start and made a nice charge late before the half, but the US had good chances with some corner kicks. Id say its pretty even after one half. Whom ever scores first goal looks likely to win the match.

Eh, this years Gold Cup was not important. It meant nothing. A win in 2011s Gold Cup means a lot, b/c it includes Confederations Cup invite.
