Reid: No Idea on Shawn Andrews
When Shawn Andrews returned midweek from his visit to Los Angeles and back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins, the upshot seemed to be that nothing was structurally wrong with Andrews' back and that he might practice soon.
Eagles coach Andy Reid didn't seem to think that last part was very likely, when Reid updated the Birds' injury situation Saturday.
"I don't have any idea" when Andrews will be back on the field, Reid said. The coach tiptoed around questions about how likely it might be that the team's supposed starting right offensive tackle, whose back tightened up during the fitness run that opened training camp for veterans, still has time to be ready to start the season opener Sept. 13.
Reid said Andrews replacement Winston Justice "is stronger physically" and shows a better grasp of fundamentals than in the past.
Reid said running back Brian Westbrook will practice this week as if he's playing Thursday against Jacksonville. Of course, that doesn't mean Westbrook, who underwent ankle surgery in June, actually will play, but the fact that he's a full practice participant is encouraging.
Reid said "there's a chance" quarterback Michael Vick, eligible to play for the first time as an Eagle against the Jaguars, will take the field then, depending on how Vick feels during practice this week.
“I think everybody is [eager to see him play], including, most of all, himself," Reid said. "I think he wants to get in and play again, so we’ll see how that goes. I can’t tell you right now how much he’s going to play. He’s shooting to play this game, and we’ll see how he does this week and how he’ll feel the closer we get to the game.”
Left offensive tackle Jason Peters was scheduled to return to practice today.

Good lord....Winston Justice could really end up being this team's starting tackle to open the season.
Well, hopefully Goodell reduces Vick's sentence a few more games, because McNabb will be dead by the end of the first game.

Trade Vick already, goddamit. Please.
I was listening to Sal Paolantonio earlier, and he did such an awesome job of destroying how bad it is to still be using this clown in the Eagles offense. That, and too many other teams are doing it also. Fuck wildcat, get back to playing football. It just doesn't work with the Eagles's system.
Today's win almost in the books...a win against Dallas next week, and they're in the driver's seat.
I think the Eagles can play with the Vikings in the NFC, but I'm not so sure about the Saints, although Witherspoon has been a great addition which should help tremendously in neutralizing Shockey if they meet up in the playoffs.
Offensively they can compete with anyone.
