Six months ago I was not bothered at all about turning 30. The closer I get to this age the more I am starting to freak out. Why? I talked to a friend today who said he is getting really ornery about it. What gives?

Sometimes I think Gvac ruined my attitude about a woman turning 30.....seriously...I am kinda mad at him.

30 didn't bother me in the least. Leading up to it, I thought it would, but there was so much build up that it was ultimately no big deal when it happened.

I'm approaching 30 and couldn't care less. I look at all I acomplished before turning thirty and then look off into the distance with a sense of accomplishment.

The only birthday that bugged me was 20, because I wasn't a cute teenager anymore. The older I get the more comfortable I get with myself. Plus I am still adorable. So it's all good.

Big girl turning 30 was the most awesome thing for me. I didn't feel like I was just in my 20's anymore and i felt like an actual grown up. I lived a lot in my 20's and I had amazing expectations for my 30's and being 35 now I can say that getting older is just awesome.

Not to sound too cliche but age is just a number how you live your life is what matters.

You are adorable.

I do not really give a crap about my birthdays, you really only have one birthday which was when you were born. After that you are just celebration coming out of your mom in some disgusting way.

I was in that position last year and I really did not care nor worry about it up until a month before when my boss made a joking comment how everything will go downhill from here...

Truth is the day came and went and nothing changed immediately... and now I can only say my life keeps getting better... which it had been since around 27

Turning 30 is no big deal - you can still run with the people in their 20's and no sweat. But now I am almost 40 and it should be the big date that sucks. I now have too much grey hair, i have aches and pains all the time and chicks in their 20's look at me like their father's buddy. So, enjoy turning 30 and relish in the fact that you have a good 5-7 more years before it all starts going down hill.

And of course - hangovers hurt more than they used too.
Cornbread and ice tea took the place of pills and 90 proof.

I dunno. I don't think I have freaked out about it now that it's passed. I mean I have been 30 for less then a day and I hadn't even thought about it till this thread.

Although, I now feel like a lil bit of an ass when I say YES I AM THIRTY and still call my pops to borrow a 20 spot.

Being a couple years away, it doesn't really get to me. I still have a baby face, and I knew way ahead of time I would start to bald early (thanks genetics!) so I'm fine with my looks. The only thing I worry about is how beat up I'm going to feel (my line of work is hell on the back and shoulders). All in all though, I think I'll take it in stride. It doesn't bother me, yet!

biggirl
07-23-2009, 02:17 PM
I think I am feeling this way because I had a list of goals I wanted to accomplish by age 30, there are still 2 that aren't "checked off" so that is getting me down. These things are not possible to accomplish in less than 2 months...

Being completely honest, 30 didn't bother me in the least. Neither did turning 40. It was either my 37th or 38th birthday that kind of bummed me out. I felt like I had hit my "late 30's" and it just felt like reality was slapping me in the face.

You get over it pretty quick, though.

And if it makes you feel any better, I've recently upped the age of women I'll date to 35.

I've finally realized I have NOTHING in common with women in their 20's.

That's what parents are for. Your still his baby.

I stopped asking for money from my parents at 14. I had a job and gave them half of every paycheck to help out until I moved out at 20.

My folks were my grandparents and on fixed income so helping them was a big deal to me. I also paid for my own wedding at 21. They sacrificed so much to raise me ( their retirement and golden years alone) that I didn't want to depend on them too much after I learned to fend for myself.

I'm running out of time!

The human life expectancy peaks at around the age of eighty. Think about how many years of life you have left. How many years you have spent already, maybe even wasted. Do you remember yourself ten years ago? Twenty years ago? Doesn't time seem to hastily fly by? This is your LIFE. What do you want to accomplish? What is it that you want to experience? And just, how do you intend to spend the rest of it?

That whole decade in my 30's seemed to wear me out a bit. It all revovled around babies. I'm really enjoying my 40's so far. The kids are a little older and more fun. Sure recovery times from whatever are a little longer then in my 20's, but I'm still recovering.

Turning 30 didn't bother me at all, I never really gave it a second thought. I think it depends on where you are in life, whether it actually affects you or not.

My ex-girlfriend, who turned 30 and bought a house in the same month, completely freaked out. It led to the demise of our relationship, since that was the only thing she had any control over. It was like an early mid-life crisis, I think.
