View Full Version : Women And Tattoos
I suspect it's a generational thing, but I'd like to see what you guys (and gals) think of chicks with tats.
Also, give us an idea of how old you are. If you don't wanna say your exact age, at least give us "early 30's" or "mid 20's."
I think it's insanely hot. I don't mean just a butterfly or small rose I mean sleeved. I'm 31

I'm 40 and I don't like 'em. I guess I'm an old fart. I don't judge people any differently because they have them. It's just a personal preference. I prefer a girl without any tats. Its nearly impossible to enjoy porn anymore. I'm going to have to look for my old Seka VHS tapes someday.
Same goes for belly-button jewelry. I don't find it attractive.
I'm 43 and prefer zero tattoos on a woman.
One or two wouldn't scare me away, it's just a preference.
I'm 29 and for me it really depends on the girl. If she's the type that can pull off tats, then it works for me.

28 and i don't really like them, although the last few girls who i have dated have had at least one. It has been forever since I have dated a girl who at least did not have something small.

28, prefer none.
I'm in my late twenties and I hate tattoos on a woman. I can deal with one or two tiny ones but I find them nothing but a turn-off. But I hate tattoos in general and would never get one myself.

There's a different between preferring a woman with ZERO ink and disliking a woman who has ink. You can prefer a clean slate, but still like women who have ink as well...

I have been wanting to get one since I was 18 but could not decide on a design or the perfect placement on my body I would be happy with forever... I don't mind a tasteful tattoo on a chick, but when they are placed in random places and one has nothing to do with the other (Like some fairy when she was 18 to something really beautiful and meaningful when she is older) it just looks stupid to me.
A tattoo is as big a decision as a marriage... cause it's for life (and only lot's of pain and money will help ya part)

I am 35. I want a tattoo but most likely won't get one. Mostly because when I am 60 or 70 I don't want wrinkly odd looking ink splotches on me. I have seen a 60 year old lady with half a sleeve and it was just a train wreck. Saggy skin and ink that was just all jumbled together.
The lady was my great grandma's roommate at her retirement home, and she said she regretted getting the work done. Also whims change, there are so many tacky dolphins and butterfly's and just girly stuff that girls think that they will love forever but I think at 55 if you still think a tattoo of 2 dolphins swimming into the sunset really represent who you are.... well it's kinda sad.

I'm 27 and I like tattoos as long as they give me a positive impression of that person. That is to say they dont have to be great tattoos, but the tattoos have a context that I like. If a person has a lot of tattoos they probably have a bad tattoo, I'd just like to see their taste matured and they dont have a million bad tattoos. That their tattoos indicate some kind of personality, not just I'm the girl covered head to toe in traditional stuff because all my friends drink PBR and hang out in shitty bars.
A girl with only really skillfully done, really expensive tattoos by only marquis type artists is kindof a red flag for me.

I want to drown a chick who has a tramp stamp or one behind her ear that means 'strength' in Japanese. You're an idiot you white, suburban rich girl, how much strength did you need?

I like them if the chick can pull it off. If it seems like it goes with her personality.

I don't like the radomly placed tats where it doesn't seem to match their style.

However, they look great when the women are young and sexy. No telling how awful they will look when they're 65.

There's a weird middle ground for me that I find hot. I don't like a woman to have full sleeves and huge back pieces, but I also don't like if they just have a 2 inch Tweety Bird on their calf. I like a few medium sized tattoos that don't look like they were souvenirs that you got on your 18th birthday, but no so many that you wouldn't be able to get a job that doesn't pay in crack rocks.
I'm 30.

I'm 43, and I'm not crazy about them. I don't think age has anything to do with it, though. Tons of chicks I knew were getting tattoos when I was in my 20s and 30s.
It just seems like a strange, impulsive form of personal expression to me. I've seen work that's really beautiful, for sure, but I always wonder what will happen when the trend is gone. You wouldn't commit to wearing the same style clothing for the rest of your life when you were 28, would you?
Same same.

Exactly.
What seems cool in your 20's and 30's doesn't always hold up in your 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, etc.
I think if anyone thinks they're going to have the same passions in their 40's that they have in their 20's they're not being realistic.

I like tattoos.
But I like WELL DONE tattoos. So many people think that it doesn't matter who they go to in order to get something simple. A heart or a star can look really fucked up if you go to an artist that doesn't know what they're doing. Getting a butterfly or an angel on the boardwalk down in Seaside Heights will most likely look completely different than a proper tattoo shop in Manhattan or even someone in the 'burbs.
I also agree with people's statements about placement. Just please don't put a tattoo around your bellybutton or on your hip where you know that when you have kids they will get completely distorted and retarded looking.
It's art that you carry around with you forever...make it tasteful and well done please.

I'm 37 and I'm okay with one or two tattoos in some places on a woman, but none on the boobs or the face.
And I really don't like the big ones. Because I do think it takes away from the natural beauty of a woman. Generally, if I a woman is baring her shoulder or cleavage, the tattoo distracts from the skin and the lines and turns me off.

The tattoo might have a specific subject and that could be ill advised because you probably wont maintain that interest in the same way but thats different from people who subscribe to the tattoo culture. I'd say those people get tattoos to embrace a certain alienation, or youthfulness they hope not to lose, or hope to always value.
Successful tattoos are about themes instead of subjects. A sailor could have a tattoo of a boat, but the boat has a lot of symbolism for him. He might not always sail, but probably will always cherish the freedom to wander, or brotherhood.

I think if you are the type of woman who is going to get a tattoo sleeve on their arm or cover their back in their 20's or 30's, you are not going to change so drastically that they will feel like ripping there skin off in their 40's or 50s.

Absolutely love them. As long as they have good artwork and some meaning. If its just random images sporadically placed all over her body that is a huge turn off. I know a number of people who got their first tattoos in their 40s and have continued. A lot of people get tattoos for the wrong reasons, it is a lot more cultural than people act. Tattooing has been going on since the cavemen, it has an inborn ressonance with people.

I'm referring to those who go ALL THE WAY, with sleeves, covering their backs, etc. People who get on little tattoo somewhere are not really the type of people committed to that type of lifestyle. Those are the one's who usually regret it. Think these 60 year old biker mamas who are covered with tattoos regret it? Probably not. And I don't think many of these Suicide Girls types will either.

I have two tattoos on my hip. I will eventually get one or two more but I wouldn't get anything visible. My profession kind of frowns upon it. I have many ear piercings (I have 8 piercings in each ear-just traditional piercings no tragus piercings or anything). Some patients make comments about them when I have all my earrings in. I would love to do my hair a crazy color but that would not sit well with patients either. So I settle for hennaing it, since that is the closest to a "wild" color that I can get.
And I'm 35.

I am 44 and while many women my age and older have them, and I guess many get them for the same reasons as 60 yr old guys in sports cars. I do not cast judgment, and my own sister has a few.
