i have a XP partition that i could care less about and want it for HDD space. Can i do this?
Its my main OS hdd.

You would have to use software like Partition Magic to "re-absorb" the space into your main partition, but it is entirely doable. As long as you have another OS installed on a different partition it shouldn't be a problem.
And I know there are programs other than Partition Magic, but that is what I have experience with. It usually works pretty well for reclaiming space. Of course it works best (IMO) if you delete/reformat the partition before reallocating the space - there is far less chance of f-up as it is an easy process.
Edit - I just realized that the name of the software might have changed. I think the company was purchased and may now be under Symantec. The copy I have is a little old.

If it is XP pro you can do it under the administrative window, click on disk management.

well its the XP that i want to get rid of.
I didnt see a selection under disk management that looks as if it would suit my needs.
theres only...
