Anyone been watching this? Pretty good reality show and I hate reality shows.

No, but they swing quite a meatstick.

I watched the first show and thought it was alright. They did a pretty good job of making LA River water drinkable.

Were they all actors?

The ex-con sure came off like a plant with the way the show ended. WTF?

Yeah, absolutely.
And a guy splits his head open on television and no one steps in to get him stitches or anything? But they have plenty of clean bandages around?

They glossed over it, but later you could see stitches in his head. Guaranteed he was seen at a hospital. Just like he probably was after his shit-wounded finger. There were a lot of aspects that had to be misrepresented to preserve the atmosphere of the show. I doubt we will see a reunion-type show because it would be too revealing. I did like the show, though. If only they had gotten blondie running the angle-grinder in her shorts a little sooner.
The whole aspect of violence seemed like a work. There would be no way possible to produce a show like they said it was. The actors they had coming in to attack would be able to own slices of Discovery if one of the "real" people snapped and cracked someone in the head with a machete. I really enjoyed how they pretended that the electric fence was on during the attack with the one staged shot of a marauder getting electrocuted. And I'm sure they really lobbed molotovs and shot the flamethrower at marauders.
Also, the scene in the hospital boiler room where Dr. Jake Ramoray told Al Bundy to leave him alone just to take a gas can was silly. It reeked of staginess.

The marauder thing pissed me off constantly. It just added a shitty aspect to the show. I really liked watching them create things.
When they "blew up" the car by shooting the flame thrower into it tonight, it was obviously a work. Someone had to go put a propane tank in the car before they shot it with that much fire. And where were they getting all that propane?!
Also, the marauders "took control" of their base at night, but when they left, it was last morning.
The fake electric fence thing cracked me up.
I wish they had kept following them and actually made them drive all the was to San Diego.

The marauders thing is what drove me away from the show. If it was just survivorman in an urban apocalypse setting I think it would've done a lot better. The actors were so cheesy, and the threat was so empty it became a complete distraction.

at least survivors smart enough to fill the cast with attractive chicks..
the one passable part of the show looked too much like amy poehler.
i thought it was funny how when they went out on the solar powered bike the "marauders" went right for the solar panels...

I just assumed that. The way they would just happen to know solutions for problems as soon as they pop up. We're out of propane to boil water, oh it just so happens I know how to purify water using ozone. Becuase thats the kind of thing you walk around knowing, but don't bring up the first time someone says 'we need to purify some water.'

Or, let's power this engine with wood gas. We will build a wood gasifier.

Or let's build a recon balloon, because this incredibly uncommon book on constructing recon balloons is back here in this pile of junk in this abandoned warehouse.

The new season premiered Tuesday night. Anyone check it out? I haven't seen it yet, and am wondering if I should even waste my time.

I no havva the TV anymore, but I was at a friend's house and distractedly watched a little bit of it. I wasn't paying too much attention, but it seemed like they ratcheted up the violence. I saw one of the "participants" take a downward elbow strike to the back of the neck from some hulking marauder. Then I saw some fiery marauder bitch shove another contestant onto the ground, and I think I saw a body slam or two.

Just rounding out my influenza-addled weekend of watching old shows about apocalyptic scenarios with season 2. After watching the whole season, it feels a little more realistic than the first season. It's funny how the marauder groups are all subject to affirmative action.
