I just got tickets to see NIN at Webster Hall on August 23rd. I really wanted to see them at Bowery Ballroom (probably my favorite venue) on the 22nd, but those went quickest.

Anyone else going to try and see any of these "farewells" at these small venues? There are playing NYC (Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and Terminal 5), Chicago (Aragon Ballroom) and Los Angeles (The Wiltern, The Henry Fonda, The Palladium and The Echoplex).

I saw them in the Orphuem in Boston a couple years back. Seeing them in such a small venue was amazing.

I saw them in a small place back when "Pretty Hate Machine" first came out.I saw them three other times in big venues.I may be too old for a NIN show at this point.

I saw them last month with Jane's Addiciton. Prior to that the last time I saw them was opening for Dave Bowie at the Meadowlands in 1995. They did a duet of Hurt than was great.

I am thrilled to be able to see them in such a small place. Now I need to decide who gets the 2nd ticket....

Reznor is 44...that doesn't seem that old to me. But maybe I have entered the "GVAC years" and would be considered an old guy on this site.

I saw them at Roseland in the mid 90's. A new group called Marilyn Manson opened up for them. I remember seeing them take the stage and all I could say was "what the fuck is this?"

Jesus Christ, $5000?!?!

They were sold through NIN.com. You had to be registered for the website (it's free) in order to get access. They went on sale 5pm Friday and all 4 shows were sold out within 30 minutes. I think they have some left for general sale on July 30 through Live Nation or whatever, but that's only for the Terminal 5 shows. The Bowery Ballroom and Webster Hall shows were nin.com only and are sold out.

I wonder how people are going to scalp...tickets were will call only and according to the website as soon as you pick up the ticket you will be directed straight into the venue, no going outside. There was also a 2 ticket max per person limit, so unless you sell your one extra and have the stranger meet you at the show to go in with you, I see no other way.

A. It's a NIN headlinig show. They only did about 80 minutes on the ninja tour. They did 2hr 30min last night at the Bowery.
B. Maybe you have been lucky enough to see them in a small club, but I haven't. Seeing a band in front of 1000 people is much different than in front of 8000-20000 people.

While I haven't had the chance to read this whole thread, seeing NIN at a small venue versus the likes of PNC is night and day. Hell, this pretty much goes for any band. I saw NIN in both settings and the PNC show was hardly worth it, while the smaller venue was insane.

I love clubs like the TLA and Trocadero in Philly, the 11:30 club (i think, it's been a while) in DC, Irving/Bowery/Maxwells and so many others in the NYC area versus any stadium or arena. MSG might be one decent exception at the smaller stage, yet it's still not as good.

The point i was making was not "Why do people care what venue they see NIN at?", it was "Why are people freaking out like they did not just see them?"

Yeah, they weren't headlining but they still played for an hour and a half. I guess i am growing out of going to shows because a venue is a venue to me.

I was too exhausted to post last night about the show (and really still am, it was hot as fuck in there), but they opened the show doing The Downward Spiral LP from start to finish, "Mr. Self Destruct" to "Hurt". Pretty fucking awesome.

Yes, u r so mature to show us you've aged enough to be "growing out of going to shows because a venue is a venue...". That doesn't even make sense...especially after you stated it wasn't the point of your post.

Got to see them in 1991 at the tiniest of tiny clubs - the old 9:30 Club here in Washington. Couldn't have been more than 500 people crammed in the tiniest of spaces - a lot of people dragged out because they passed out - I was right up on the stage during "Head Like A Hole." Top 5 concert experience.

The only other time I saw them was in 2007, I think, at the outdoor Nissan Pavillion with 25,000 or more. Still a blast, but not the same as feeling Trent kick you off of the stage.

What does growing out of going to shows have to do with maturity? If anything, i don't enjoy going to shows now because of ticket prices and the fact that most of the bands i listen to are either defunct or rarely tour.

To me going to a show is just the same at PNC as it would be at like Irving Plaza, i don't really factor the venues into why i would/wouldn't go to a show-or why a band would be better at one particular place over another. I base the enjoyment i get at shows off of the band itself & not my surroundings.
