wow. I appreciate that. I will sleep well and I will be hungover. I dont wanna get too excited but they played fuckin great and alot of the guys making big plays will be here next year. The future looks bright.
And Dammaso Munoz is fuckin fast, holy shit. Ive watched 4 years of him and never saw him run like tonight. Tonight was so awesome its gonna end up bad, cause now all I am is pumped for next year and i gotta wait fuckin 9 months
Yeah, he looked good but then again it was UCF who was very hot and cold this year, weird for a georg o' leary team, I always wondered what would have happened if rutgers would have been better before knowsho moreno came to UGA. They may have had a NC by now.
Like what, playing in a shitty bowl WAYYY too early. Sorry, bowl games are the biggest crock of shit going in sports today...especially the 15th tier ones like this.
Geez, what a danny downer.

yea they lost so many kids from jersey when they sucked. they got lucky on Ray Rice that syracuse fired the coach who had rice ready to go there.
But they are pullin those kids now. Sanu is from Piscataway, I think Davis is too. Savage is from not too far in PA and the RB he played with is a sr in HS this year and a 4 star. Savage has been tryin hard to get him at Rutgers.
i think the next few years could start to get really good

My bowl season just about ended after the Fresno fiasco. I wasted 32 confidence points on those fucking Green V heads.

I don't think I put many points on it though.

Im not really a dick, its just easier to weed out assholes that way.
I can be subjective most of the time but I still just find it hard that rutgers is going to be a power house year in and year out just because of their location, they are trying to attract young men to their school. Most coastal, southern, or pac 10 teams have a better shot at them, that and they can almost guarantee them a shot the draft.

But Rutgers does have the advantage of being in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area where there is a lot of nationally recruited talent.
Sure them becoming good doesn't mean that they'll pull players from Florida like a Florida school would pull from NJ but they'd have a better shot against Penn St, ND, Pitt, etc ...

Rutgers is pumping kids into the draft now. There is like 15-20 of them in the league now and most are from the past few years. And power house, I dont know, but they definately can compete year in year out and have a few years where they have a shot at the title

I know this really is HS football news, but this is for anyone who thinks Rutgers has no shot at ever being a title contender, and that the local kids to rutgers arent good at football
Rivals.com has named its HS National Champion (http://highschool.rivals.com/viewrankhs.asp?ra_key=646)
The question needs to be asked: If New Jersey only had one team in the RivalsHigh Top 100 rankings for most of the season, how could a team from the state - Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep - ascend to the top of the rankings and win the 2009 national championship?
The answer actually is easy.
In a season filled with upsets and parity in all of the traditional football power states, Don Bosco Prep stood out:
# It dominated its in-state competition;
# It defeated two top out-of-state competitors;
# It was overpowering from start to finish.
“This is a special experience for the kids,” Don Bosco athletic director and assistant coach Nunzio Campanile said. “We thought this was a special season but you never know how the polls will play out.”

It bothers me when it happens at any school.
I mean these kids are getting the chance to earn something that other people, many people, put themselves in to debt to obtain and they can't even hold up their end of the bargain.
They're not being made to make 3.0+ GPAs as most academic scholarship students.
All they have to do is pass their classes.
That's it.

2.0 is all they need yea. And most of the classes arent exactly what your avg student is taking either
JimBeam

And I know that there are times when more is put on them than on the average student, what w/ having to practice and play as well as going to class but more than enough resources are thrown their way to help them cope.
I know plenty of people who worked while putting themselves through school and that didn't include a free room and 3 damn near gourmet meals every day and they managed to graduate with better than 2.0 GPAs.
And it's not just a socio-ecomic thing because I either went to school with or currently work w/ people from all backgrounds that accomplished this.

You have a chance to play in another state with hotter women and better beaches, also rutgers have a long way to go to catch up to others facilities.

To address a few things, i would never call this douchey. its absolutely right. And its what makes it so much more amazing that schiano not only is keeping some of these kids now, but that he actually gets kids from florida to come to rutgers. THATS the most insane shit.
As to your comment on facilities, they still have a way to go, but they are not as far behind as you think. Again there is alot of money in this program from the school and boosters. 2 guys just gave them 5 mill to cover a new recruiting lounge in the new closed endzone. The stadium is up to 55000 seats now and they could still eventually close the upstairs bowl and go to 75-80K and dont think they wont consider it, esp if they move to big ten.
The new weight rooms and facilities at Hale Center are pretty nice too. its on its way.
I wont be a dillusional homer and say oh its just as good as those other places. Im not blind. If i was a big time HS football player, although rutgers wasnt that good back then, I woulda gone to Miami or So Cal or some shit too. But they are getting there and have all the resources and money to keep gettin there. And alot of young talent to insure they will be pretty damn good the next couple years
Yeah rutgers is making strides, how long until that facility is done, or have they even approved that yet? Is that a part of schiano's contract, that they have to get it finished by a certain date?
And is the Pac 10 gonna win a bowl game this year? 0-2 so far, serves them right after bragging about being undefeated last year when all they played were fairly bad teams.

the recruiting lounge you mean? It will be ready for next year. its inside the new stadium section that opened for this year.
I hope they dont. With all the shit, i dont think USC is gonna win.
The only pac 10 team i actually can root for without betting on is Stanford. They dont seem as douchey
Oregon would be if they didnt have 376000 uniforms. PICK A FUCKIN SHIRT, ASSHOLES
edit: If you meant hale center facilities, they already have those. They have for awhile, but whats inside it keeps getting better is what I meant
Well I mean their training/recovery facilities, I remember hearing that schiano wanted them upgraded to a top notch program if he was going to stay, but that was back when miami was thinking of hiring him. 2 years ago?

it was a list with some weird formula based mostly on profits from the football program above costs of everything else
Meaning from what the article said, texas football made 59 million over what football costs
But yea football is terrible for schools to have and all that money they spend on it takes away from education
REALLY. AFTER ALL THAT MONEY, THEY STILL MADE 59 MILL. WILL ALL THOSE ASSHOLES PLEASE SHUT UP NOW
Snoogans
12-24-2009, 10:37 AM
The magazine based its rankings on "dividend money," or what's left for academics (including football scholarships) and non-revenue sports after the cost of running the football program. Bowl game revenue also is factored in.
According to Forbes, Texas had a $59 million profit. Notre Dame's team value was $108 million, with a $38 million profit.
Rounding out the first 10 in Forbes' Top 20 list are Penn State, Nebraska, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma.
yea what a terrible idea for rutgers to spend money on football to get it big. That will ruin the academic institution. SHUT UP
also i find it hilarious that ND, a college, has a football team that alone is worth only about 25% les than the Pheonix Coyotes

Meyer to coach final game at Sugar Bowl (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4772952)
"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family.

Meyer to coach final game at Sugar Bowl (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4772952)
Terminal cancer or heart disease?
something tells me if this was something he could come back from, he'd take a leave of absence, not quit outright.
Or this could be a move to go somewhere else, but all the big jobs are taken. Except for Penn State down the road.
KnoxHarrington
12-26-2009, 03:05 PM
This is a total shock. I know the rumor mill was that he might take the Notre Dame job (though I think that was more wishful thinking by Notre Dame alumni than any real possibilty), but he didn't seem to have the slightest bit of interest in that.
I suspect this isn't for another job either.
Doesn't this seem like perfect timing for Urban to take some time off and to make himself the "big free agent" of coaching (college or pro) whenever he wants to pop his head up again?

im callin it right now
A couple months will go by, florida will get a new coach, things will happen. sometimes in march/early april, before the draft, Meyer will announce his health has improved, things are under control and he is ready to coach again.
Florida will already have a new coach, so instead, he is going to coach for the Jacksonville Jags, the only team that will let Tebow play QB. Maybe not head coach, maybe OC and they keep del rio for one more year but i dont know why i just feel it.
If its non life threatening, why is he leaving? If coaching stresses make it dangerous, then its still life threatening. Something seems weird, and he cant just leave after saying he will stay til they dont want him.
He is gonna play it like it was serious, then go to the Jags. They will draft Tebow, and the 2 will continue to butt fuck each other
I could see that snoogs but why? I cant remember the last college coach that had success in the pros and teebow is not a pro QB, period.
Florida fans will hate both of them forever if they leave together, they were prepared to lose teebow and could always say "at least we have meyer" now they lost both.

I wouldnt totally get it either, but i just feel that. Something just makes me think he fell in love with Jesus boy somehow and wants to go coach him. And Jacksonville will let him play QB cause it would sell alot of tickets, more so with Meyer there too. And no one cares about the Jags anyway so I couldnt even blame them
But also, i think Urban wouldnt wanna look like a snake like all these other coaches, so he came up with this to look good still.
Why else would he leave if his condition wasnt threatening to him?

And he shouldn't. He can make that program strong with a couple of more years.

few weeks ago on a Friday before the SEC Championship game, I was at eating at a Cracker Barrel with my family when a bus pulled in with Florida Gator fans heading to Atlanta for the game.....I thought so hard about standing up and announcing to the crowd that "They had better enjoy this last game, cause it will be the last one you'll see the Gators at number 1."
man, did I know I was right. Later, Urban.
(seriously, it is good to see the guy take care of himself.....no need in killing yourself over a game.)
Stoops seems to be the guy they are going after, another unnamed coach and then Dan Mullen is the fall back guy since hes already inquired about the job and they know he will leave in a heartbeat to come back to florida. As an UGA fan I really dont want Mullen back, they were better with him there, but then they are going to lose a little bit since charlie strong left florida.
Edit: It seems Petrino was the unnamed coach on that list, god I hope florida hires him, hes fucking horrible.

Tebow will be back at florida as a coach after 1 year. What a fuckin bum he is gonna be in the NFL
I keep hearing he can play TE. Can he? He never looked NFL tight end big or fast. Id be shocked if he could play tight end better than QB and he sucks at QB by NFL standards

Well hes like 6' 4", 230 so he may make a good TE, the problem is that he wants to play QB only and if he insists on that then he wont get drafted until the 5th round, if at all.
And to be honest, hes probably faster than jeremy shockey at TE and he was highly regarded coming out of college

think about this for a minute though. How many tight ends are 6'4 230 in the NFL nowadays and cant run a 4.6 40? For Tebow to be effective at his speed, he needs to be like fuckin 255 260. he would get MAULED by linebackers coming off the line that slow at 230. no fuckin chance. Unless they let him train with the Jones brothers and David Boston
Again, Im not saying the guys not a freak, I just hate him because hes on our biggest rival but still hes huge for a QB and it wont take much to add on 10-15lbs, the problem is that hes insisting hes QB and hes not. Not for college, not for the NFL, he cant accept that hes a fullback that was allowed to play at QB.
He should evaluate where all the prognosticators have him going, as a QB hes barely ranked, if he would move to TE or WR he would be first round.

ive watched him play. he never looked that fast. He is quicker than you would think at his size, ill agree with that. Maybe he could do it. But the times ive seen him, he never looks that fast. Kevin Boss looks faster during games than tebow does, and thats surrounded by NFL speed, not college. So i just feel like he isnt that fast. I guess we will see at the combine. I dont know what he runs a 40 in. Im just goin by what I see.
Though I was completely floored by how slow fitz ran the 40, so that shit sometimes doesnt matter. Football speed in pads is different than sprint running speed
I think it goes back to your toughness, if you can take a pass across the middle and take the hit it means a lot more, I think he would be good at that.
The problem is that he thinks of himself as just a QB and he just doesnt have the talent level for that.

In the best case scenario, I can't see him being anything more than a backup TE in the pros.
He probably has decent hands and size, but he has zero experience at route running or blocking at the college, much less the pro level.
Whoever takes him in the draft is wasting their pick.

I'll be curious to see which two NFL staffs come down here to coach the Senior bowl. (It's usually the two highest finishing teams that don't make the playoffs... Giants look like the NFC rep... AFC is a mess, but Jax still has a chance)
I expect Tebow to be here, and to use that week taking a lot of snaps under center, and to evaluate his footwork on NFL drops, and see whether he can make the throws. Usually, even if the staff coaching the game isn't necessarily interested in a particular player, there are reps from every NFL team there, and they'll do what they can to showcase each player that the other teams are interested in.
I keep seeing quotes from him saying that if he's not wanted as a QB, then he'd like a chance to try out at another position.
The last guy that successfully did that as a former QB was Matt Jones... but, see, the difference with him was that immediately after his last college game, Jones started working out at WR, and was coached and played WR in the Senior Bowl, and his combine skills were measured at that position.
I don't see Tebow giving up that quickly. I expect to see him waste a lot of coaches time continuing to work him at QB all the way through the draft. Teams are going to have to make their decision based on his QB skills. I find it hard to believe that anyone would waste a pick on the hope that he could learn another position unless he committed to that now.
Not saying he couldn't sign as a free agent and make it to an NFL camp and try out at TE or whatever then, but I think he'll either be drafted as a QB, or not at all.

Texas is a "right to work" state, under the Taft-Hartley act... which basically means a "right to fire" state, as far as the employer is concerned. (I know because I manage a company in another "right to work" state).
They don't have to provide a reason to terminate employment.
That part is indisputable.
However, as far as his contract... it stated that he's entitled to $400k a year for every year remaining on his contract if Texas Tech released him before the contract ended.
That's the part Tech is trying to get out of paying.
Evidently he was only entitled to the "buy out" if he was terminated "without cause" (a losing record, or similar reason, would not be "cause", unless stated in the contract, which Leach would never have agreed upon)... and Tech is saying they had "cause" to fire him because of these incidents.
Perhaps... but if they're smart, they'll agree to pay the $400k per year, and end this now before it gets uglier... and it would likely cost them a helluva lot more than the total buy-out in legal fees and lost revenue to try to fight it.
I just switched on the Humanitarian Bowl and I have to ask why the fuck would a place have this god-awful blue artificial turf ?

actually the rams drafted Crouch as a safety
Crouch was initially drafted by the St. Louis Rams of the NFL as a wide receiver, but still wanted to play quarterback. However, Crouch was seen by the NFL as being too short to play quarterback. His athleticism was seen as better suited for playing wideout, but a hard tackle by a defensive player caused him to have 150 cc of blood drained from his leg. Due to the injury, Crouch left the Rams before playing a game.
Crouch signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in January 2005 and was allocated to the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe. Crouch converted to the safety position, recording 25 tackles and 2 passes defended.

A lot of the stuff I've seen about the Leach situation in Texas Tech is that he and the administration have been on poor terms for a long time now, so this thing with Craig James' kid might be the excuse they've wanted to get rid of him.
They'll probably spend more on lawyers than the $800K they've saved having to pay him, but maybe they don't mind that.

Yes, but Brad Smith was initially drafted based on his QB ability, and made the team under Mangini on the QB depth chart. He was still holding a QB roster spot when he started going the "Kordell Stewart" route to get on the field. He didn't "make the team" by learning another position.
Robinson was already a "slash" player at Penn State (I remember that he played slot/WR against Auburn in their bowl game). I'm pretty sure he was drafted to play RB for the 49ers from day one (a position he'd already played many times in college), not drafted as a QB.
Cribbs wasn't drafted as a QB... and, in fact, wasn't drafted at all. He came into camp as a free agent, and had to earn a special teams position to make the team.
From what I've read of Tebow, he's not giving up playing QB in the NFL, and hoping that he'll get drafted as a QB, and at least have the chance to practice and get some pre-season reps under center before they make a decision. I'm guessing that most likely someone will take him in a later round.
Those roster cut decisions come quickly in the NFL, and I don't see a team trying to suddenly convert him to a TE or another position and keep him on the roster unless he's already practicing that position, or playing special teams... and how often do you see even the 4th string QB out there covering kickoffs, even in pre-season?
My point with the Jones comparison, is that if Tebow really wants to play in the NFL, no matter what position... then he really needs to talk to interested teams, and find out what his realistic chances are. If they're slim, then it might do better to try to get into a Senior bowl or Hula bowl game and start practicing now as a TE or whatever he thinks he can play at the next level.
Teebow has no shot at QB in the NFL.
Leach is going to sue TT for millions and probably win, they were looking for a reason to fire him since their endowment dried up with the economy bust, I hope baylor offers him a job just so he can kick their ass every year.
Adam Jones is a pussy and should have just been released from his scholarship but since his daddy defends him he gets to whine to him and get to stay on the team, fuck him.

Plenty of QBs after Matt Jones have been drafted and turned into other positions.
Did I see "I won't play any position but QB" Brad Smith make a special teams tackle this weekend?
*facepalm*
By tackle, do you mean 100 yard KO return that put the Jets right back in the game?
And for what it's worth, Smith is their QB in Wildcat and will probably be their #2 next year if Clemens gets cut, which he probably will be.

If the kid is injured, you send him home or do something that is "football productive". What Leach did was haze the kid. People go to jail for that shit. And that's what we KNOW. What else did he do?
Leach was given MANY opportunities to do "the right thing" when it came to the Jones issue, and he was basically an asshole every time it came up.

I don't see why Leach is getting so much support in this matter.
The argument that he should be allowed to coach until the investigation is complete doesn't make sense because players are suspended immediately and don't get to play until they are cleared.
Why should it be different for coaches ?
As best I can tell from the articles and interviews I've read/heard the kid had a concussion and instead of being sent to get tests done he was put in a shed.
A shed that looks like one that's in a person's yard holding lawn equipment and not a high tech medical equipment or even a gurney.
Why is he gonna win millions ? Based on what ?
At best his contract settlement would be worked out and he'd get a portion of what he was expecting.
He's probably not even gonna get that because it seems like the school is ready to fight it and all they have to show is that he put the medical safety of ones of his players in question and it's a done issue.
The guy thought he was untouchable and was shown that he wasn't.
Colim Cowherd finally pointed out on his show today what I thought right away when people said that this was only happening because James' dad is famous.
The fact is Mangino was fired and the kid in that scenario didn't have a famous dad.
Maybe Craig James' influence was stonger than the average parent but the fact is Leach was wrong, based on all the details revealed so far, and he lost a fight he thought he could win.
I'm sure we'll hear stories that James was a trouble maker but I think we'll also hear more stories about how Leach was running wild.
There has to be more there and that's why the university moved so quickly.
Sure getting out of that contract will be opportunistic for them but I doubt it's the sole reason that they acted as they did.
By the way I caught a bit of this clown Dino Costa filling in for Chriss Russo the other day and he kept trying to draw a parallell between Craig James @ SMU and them getting the death penalty.
As if James had anything to do with that. As far as I know he was never on the coaching staff so I'm not sure how influential he was in the school getting the worst kind of probation.
you should go to the bar and watch the games. 7-0 oklahoma
I did, he was wasted now his wife gets to come pick him up

They have been gunning for him since the last contract when he interviewed with teams and didnt tell them(he had no contract so he wasnt obligated to do so) that pissed them off and they ended up caving into every thing he wanted because their fans wanted him. If anything like this had surfaced before they could have used it and either quit negotiations or told him that if he doesnt drop some demands this will come to light. So to say we DONT KNOW something is just ludicrous.
And Beam, hes getting support because hes a nice guy and the people/alumni loved him, mangino had more than just that one incident and was already under suspicions by most people, he is also an abrasive dick which is strange cause fat people are supposed to be jolly. This is the only recorded(documented) case for Leach and the only time it surfaced was after Craig James did the interview, even during that interview I was thinking something just wasnt right, at first I was thinking Leach should just be strung up but now its getting pretty obvious that certain people didnt like him and this whiney little pussy was their ticket to get him.
His interview on espn tonight should be interesting, its kind of telling when you see how espn has toned down their glowing support of james and have started showing of the support Leach has from current and former players/coaches/trainers.

Brad Smith was drafted on athletic ability. He actually fell because there were rumors he was insisting he would only play QB in the pros.
from an article dated April 2006:
Because of his erratic accuracy as a passer, several pro teams are projecting Smith as a possible candidate to move to receiver at the next level, but with his speed, elusiveness and scrambling ability, he could prove more productive if he shifts to halfback at the next level. The problem through the Indy Combine has been Smith's unwillingness to let go of his dream to play quarterback in the NFL.
also in the article:
Corby Jones believes Brad Smith is making a big mistake. In fact, it's a million-dollar mistake, according to Jones.
Smith is at the Scouting Combine this week, intent on being a quarterback in the NFL. As a quarterback at Missouri, Smith became the only player in Division I college football history to pass for 8,000 yards and run for 4,000 yards in a career. But he completed just 56.3 percent of his passes.
Jones is a former Missouri quarterback who is now an attorney in Kansas City and breaking into the sports agent business. At the combine, Jones was blunt when asked about Smith.
"He's killing himself (by insisting he wants to be a quarterback)," Jones said. "If he concentrated on being a wide receiver, he'd be a second-round pick. And he can do it. He has the feet and the speed. But he doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback."

Whether people thought he made the wrong decision or not, the fact remains that he made the team as a quarterback, not any other position, and is still employed because while he was on the QB depth chart, he earned and has maintained a roster spot through his willingness to play special teams. He didn't make the team as a WR or other position player, like Matt Jones chose to do.
Your initial statement implied that all the former QB's you listed were drafted as QB's, failed, yet still made the team because they changed positions.
But, with that said... what the former Mizzou QB had to say about Smith, is the same objection I have to Tebow trying to pursue a QB position.
*I* personally think it's a mistake, but he could prove me wrong.
I think that if he thinks that he can "fall back" into a TE or other position after giving QB a chance... it may be too late, and he could wash out of the league entirely after one pre-season.
If he doesn't initially make a team as a QB, he'll be cut, or at best put on a practice squad. I don't think his athletic ability is enough to give him a precious roster spot in the "hope" that he'd be able to immediately contribute to an NFL team in any other capacity without practicing through camp at that position.

So let me get this straight - a coach who shows no loyalty to his team, negotiations for his contract has gone south, and he was given an opportunity to apologize for what he did to the kid and HE DID NOT - and we're supposed to be on Leach's side?
Sorry, as someone who got burned by RichRod, I say fuck him. If he's disloyal - even without a contract - then fuck him.

You need to read the contract negotiation emails floating around the web, they were trying to fuck him last year so he seriously thought about taking the washington job and they resented him for it. If Im a fan I wouldnt fault him for taking a job that would have more than doubled my salary, he built that team into a program and they wanted to screw him? Its not at all like richrod who was getting paid, you are talking about the guy(Leach) who was the lowest paid coach in the big 12 by a million+ dollars.
And he wasnt given a chance to apologize, he was going to be forced to make a public apology and admit guilt by reading their lawyers prepared statement. Reality is the kid is just a brat and craig james a fucking little league type dad that was a dirty college player. All this was a power play by the TT AD and he lost, he pushed too hard and now hes lost his savior coach, hes lost alumni, and hes lost the fans, the local stations are crucifying the AD. There is no long line of abuse from him, its obviously a hatchet job by espn and a way for the AD to try and get power back.

If Leach was such a hot prospect for bigger coaching jobs then why did both the Washington and Tennessee jobs go to guys that had never been head coaches ?
Tells you something no ?
A conspiracy by ESPN ? Really ?
Are you the same kinda person that believes that 9/11 was an inside job and that we faked the moon landing ?
Even if Craig James, who's an employee of ESPN, a division of a publicly traded company waned Leach fired the board of directors of Disney didn't call an emergency meeting and say " Well the son of one of our thousands of employees apparently can't cut it on his college football team so we'e gonna use all of our vast resources to make up a story. Put aside all of your bowl coverage and everything else and let's really come up w/ a zinger. I hear the coach at this school is the nex Bear Bryant so we better tear him down now. "
To even think thats the case is borderline unbalanced.
Maybe Obama's involved too ?
I wouldn't doubt if Leach did awful things and used terribly outdated methods with his players. I also wouldn't doubt if the entire James family were complete self-serving jerkoffs.
All I really want is all of them off my tv.

If Bowden or Patrno kicked the bucket on the sidelines that'd probably derail this story.
Maybe not even so drastic.
Maybe if Bowden just came out and coached the last game in his skivees and totally acted like he forgot his pants.
That'd probably work.

SP are you saying that you don't believe the kid ever had a concussion ?
Is that part made up by the James' and ESPN as well ?
The simple fact of the matter is staffs at civilized schools don't send kids to sheds when they think they are injured. They send them to the hospital or someplace else to get a check up.
If James was as big of a screwup as the coaching staff, clearly loyal to Leach ( because why wouldn't they be ), says then why not just cut him ?
I'm sure it's their right especially if they have documented cases of lack of effort.
As far as the university wanting to get back at him due to contact negotiations why does that make sense ?
If they wanted him out why not just cut ties with him last year and say he was asking for too much money.
Sure they'd have ahd to scounge for a new coach but wouldn't it have made more sense to go through that while you're prepared to do so then to wait until the 1st year of his contract and possibly have to pay buyout money ?
Financially it would've made sense to let him walk, to whatever job he was supposedly gonna get, rather then to bring him back and then get rid of him.
The problem with conspiracies is they never hold up to analysis.

Shitty tackling. It's been a problem all year. Lack of depth has forced them to have very light practices ever since last spring. They don't do a hell of a lot of full contact until game time.
They've also been prone to getting very conservative on offense once they establish a lead and let teams like this get back into games.
They blew 14 - 0 leads to both Bama and Georgia, and totally pissed away the Kentucky game earlier this year.

After getting a committment from Cameron Newton yesterday... Rivals has AU's incoming class ranked #3 in the country.
Two 5-star players... Ten 4-stars... and will probably get at least half a dozen enrolled in January, so they can sign even more.
Unfortunately for the AU haters, this team is going to get better, and very soon.

I didn't think of it that time but I was thinking that this was the longest 1 possesion a piece OT that I've ever sat through.
Great observation.
I saw that fake FG coming a mile away.
Gies back to what I said about the coach not being pissed about the QB's 5th INT.
I think he, the coach, looked at this is as a moral victory and that if he could pull off the win on a trick play it'd be that much better.
Probably thought the kick was questionable and that they wouldn't be able to hold off Auburn's offense much longer.
With that said there were some very stupid and shaley penalties.
Another fumble in the LSU/Penn St game.

What are you talking about?
I'm watching the NW/Auburn game and they ask Bob Griese about it, and he says, "well, it's no good to put a kid in an electrical closet if he has a concussion, and that's all I've heard about it."
Well what the fuck is Griese talking about? Either he's too stupid to know that Leach was interviewed on his own network just the night before and refuted that fact, or he does know and is chosing to ignore it. Hey, I don't give a fuck if Griese says nothing about it, but what he said makes him come off like an old fool.

I agree that you don't always get them all enrolled, but I will have to say that Rivals does a pretty good job evaluating talent.
And Cam Newton is a known quantity. He was #2 on the depth chart at Florida behind "everyone's all-american" as a Freshman (and saw some mop-up time) before he made a stupid mistake.

I'm trying to read up on as much of the Leach thing as I can to try and get perspective.
I'm trying to find articles from more news orientated sources and not things like Red Raider Nation and a few tools at the Sporting News and CBS who might be mad at ESPN for having returned their resumes with a " don't call us, we'll call you " response.

Again, you need to read all the stories to find the truth, there are letters from the AD about how to try and screw him out of money during the contract negotiations, he spoke to the schools about both jobs but wasnt serious, he was just looking into his options and stated his heart was at TT. Then, after they AD and his staff heard all of that they tried to low ball him so he went back and spoke to washington again, that is what pissed them off and they called his agent before he even spoke to them to get a deal done then had to give up a ton since the fans/players/alumni loved him.
I never said a conspiracy by espn, I am saying they used shit journalism to rail road the guy prompted mainly on the word of a known college cheater(remember SMU?) who was upset because he didnt play his kid enough, played a recorded VM of him(craig) whining to Leach and assistant coaches for other people, then he(craig) went to the AD to get results or answers for why his kid wasnt playing more.
In the end, the AD was pissy at giving up so much power to Leach during contract negotiations and you had one over protective father trying to get his little snowflake more playing time.
In the past 24 hours you have seen this come unraveled for espn, they quit running that video of the "electrical closet" since the current team doctors and trainers have come out and said thats not true. They have also started running current/past players/coaches/trainers support for Leach and ran an interview with him. Also this so-called apology the AD keeps talking about is crazy, what it really was supposed to be was a public apology of a prepared statement by TT's lawyers and a reason for them to take back some of the powers on the contract. He refused as any rational person would.
I have no idea if obama was involved, although he is part of the man's system now so it wouldnt surprise me............

Dude you posted links to a Red Raiders fan site, a guy who works for The Sporting News and who could be seen as being jealous of James and his ESPN career and a guy from CBS who uses Leach's own opinion as an " ah ha " as if that immediately counters the facts being reported by all news sources.
The articles conveniently post comments by former players but leave out the one anti-Leach comment which was made by a current player and reported by ESPN.
Wait maybe ESPN fabricated that as well.
One of the articles makes a point that you're expected to participate when you're injured.
Really ? Even w/ a concusion ?
And it points to how Grahm Harrell played despite having broken bones but negelcts to point out that he was trying to improve his draft status which at the time said he was undraftable and remained unchanged.
Yiu want us to read " all the stories " but expect the 3 you posted to carry more weight than those of ESPN ?
ESPN, despite the claims, has no vested interest here and their only job is to report the facts.
Craig James is afforded his opinion and Mike leach was given equal time w/ his interview.
Exactly, so either he was told not to speak about it or hes a complete fucking moron.

So now the only reason they are posting positive shit about Leach was because they were turned down for an espn job? Which conspiracy theory is more crazy? One where the network is now back pedaling or an organization that is finding even more people, including the team doctor, saying adam james story is bullshit? It was pretty clear that at the beginning this kids story didnt smell right but they ran with it anyway and now are having to do damage control. If there were any, ANY instances of him punishing or abusing the players in the past, then the story would be easy to believe but from what is being put out there hes an extremely nice guy and a tough coach who's worst player abuse is making them work for starting jobs.

Here's a portion of an article from a guy who covers Washington football for the Seattle Times :
I've probably been remiss in not publishing an entry allowing for comment on the Mike Leach firing today, especially considering that less than 13 months ago he was a candidate for the head coaching job at UW.
Leach was one of three persons known to have had in-person interviews with UW officials about replacing the fired Tyrone Willingham --- eventual hire Steve Sarkisian and Fresno State's Pat Hill were the others. There were certainly scores of others who were at least talked to on the phone, or more informally (Missouri's Gary Pinkel, for instance, was definitely approached about the job and would have been a choice far above Leach for all the obvious reasons, but apparently was simply not interested in wanting to get into another rebuilding situation, and there's lots of reason to think that Brian Kelly, recently hired at Notre Dame but then at Cincinnati, was also approached, as was Jim Mora).
PROGRAMMING NOTE --- Just wanted to alert that with some other commitments at hand during the day Thursday, not sure when I will post on here next, but I'll try to get some stuff up at some point over the next few days.
But while Leach was definitely among those the school talked to, I think it's far too simplistic to say he was UW's No. 1 choice, or was ever even offered the job. In fact, what I've heard is that the second interview he was supposed to have was scotched after UW wouldn't commit to hiring him if he came, that Leach wanted something of a promise that he was the choice since word had gotten out of his first interview. While understandably intrigued by his success, UW was apparently a little skittish of Leach's eccentricities, especially having just dealt with a coach in Willingham who had skittish relations with boosters and media (and these are things I was told at the time, not in the wake of all of this news).
Leach was confirmed to have flown to Seattle to meet with UW officials three days before the school eventually hired Sarkisian. Sarkisian had been interviewed the previous week, and Hill in between, so of those three, Leach was the last to get an interview.
E-mails that were made public today by the Dallas Morning News detailing the contentious contract negotiations between Leach and Texas Tech last year include several mentions of his interview with UW. One has Jim Sowell, chairman of the school's Board of Regents, writing that Leach's agent "begged'' Washington for an interview. Another has him noting that the UW interview was the only one Leach had in nine years at UW and that Washington then hired another coach within 24 hours (that timeline doesn't jibe exactly with the timeline I know, but Sarkisian was hired within hours of the time when Leach let it be known he was no longer a candidate).
Regardless of how close Leach may or may not have been to ever becoming UW's coach, there seems little question today that the Huskies are better off with the direction they eventually headed.

The only link is the james boys and you didnt address how your only response to the numerous articles about how the administration had a grudge was that they were espn rejects. TT brought him back because if you read those emails they could not get anyone nearly as good and the fans/players/alumni loved him for getting a program out of the shit house cellar. They are making money from the fact they said with "cause" it frees them from having to pay him anything and also frees them from paying for all the improvements they promised in his contract.
And what other anti-leach stuff? I have posted links to what I have read but you havent just some vague article about a guy who states his agent begged for an interview, isnt that what agents are supposed to do? And that is not from washingtons perspective, that is from TT's perspective, you need to read those emails to see the whole story, the TT AD sounds like fucking assholes and very unprofessional.
When all this washes out I bet that Leach gets a nice settlement, the ADs end up fired, and james gets suspended or booed everywhere he goes. TTU really fucked up and espn should have done more investigation instead of taking the word or an over protective dad.
