You must set the ad_network_ads.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).

I reinstalled windows XP on my non-english speaking friends computer. After doing so it does not recognize the sound card.

Is there anything that will scan it, tell me what the card is so I can locate the proper driver? FOR FREEE!

Do you know the make of the sound card? If not, go to control panel > system > hardware > device manager. Locate the sound card, right click and choose properties. This should give you the brand and model of the sound card. Then google that specific one and you will find the drivers.

if you open the case can't you get a name off the sound card?
