Shit the bed this morning!

Not me, the cat.

Ok here's the deal. I have 1 cat. A total house cat. He's been around longer than my son who's 6. He's Always been a decent cat. Took him a bit to warm up to my son but now they are best buddies.

Well twice within the last 2 weeks the fucker has shit on a bed. When we went away for a week there was a present on my son's bed when we returned. That one I figured he was pissed we were gone and did it on my son's bed since they get along so well now.

Well this morning he crapped on the bed in the guest room. My wife was on the computer in there left the room for 10 minutes and when she went back in... Surprise.

There aren't any other noticable changes in the cat and thankfully the craps are solid.

I figure there has to be some cat people on here, how the hell do I stop this short of tossing the cat into the closest lake?

get him checked out by the vet, cats stop using the litter box if they are in pain when they go to the bathroom. they associate the pain with the litter box.
if there's no medical issue there are many things you can do to get him to stop...i.e. closing all bedroom doors, buying a new litter box, cleaning the litter box out more frequently...having more that one litter box might help too.

He's used the litter box in between episodes and it's been at least 10 days since the first time. We have now closed the doors but fear the couch is next.

My wife cleans the box like she eats out of it and uses liners to avoid the box itself taking on an oder. How would a second box help? I've heard that with more than one cat, but we only have the 1.

The cat better hope I don't have to break out the carrier to go to the vet.

we get this as well. i clean the box, but occasionally, we'll find nuggets in a rogue spot in the house. the problem we have is that she'll go through phases where she'll piss on this one throw rug for a day or 2, then she'll stop. its anoying cause cat piss smells bad. really bad. the only i've found that will get rid of the odor is

My girl has 3 cats. They crap crap when they are pissed off about something. Who knows what it could be they are assholes.

Yeah I am with you on this one. Dog lovers are a bit nuts about them as well. I love Dogs too but they are pains in the ass! You have to constantly walk them and bath them etc. Cats may leave a shit in a random spot or puke but other than that you don't have to worry about them.

I hear ya. My buddy's wife had a cat that puked a lot. They took it to the vet and the diagnosis was "looks like you got yourself a puker".

Cats can have intermittent pain like people. And if he is an older cat there may be something going on that is not so nice. When they are in severe pain they can't help themselves. Something is going on that this cat can't make it to the cat box.

My cat is awesome, never an accident, and rarely a hairball. She is soft, takes cae of herself, and loves attention but hates strangers.
