I actually haven't been this excited for a new game in quite some time. They're splitting the two types of Call of Duty up, this series being the sequel to COD4.

I have to imagine that after the success that COD4 was, this could be one of the largest game launches over the last few years, if not ever.

I have mine pre-ordered at Gamestop. One of the new features I love is that online, if the host leaves the game, the game doesnt end. A new host is picked. Id hate getting into a game and like few seconds into it, the host would end it. Its beyond annoying.

It wasn't too bad at the Best Buy where I went. There was maybe a hundred tops by midnight and I was in the middle and they had 8 cashiers working. I was out of there by 12:15.

I've only been playing single player so far to re-acclimate myself to COD. It's very good even if it's most epic moments so far pale in comparison to Uncharted 2. But then again there hasn't been a game that good in a long time so that's no slight to MW2. What's here so far is incredible, and the controversial terrorism scene was very jarring and disconcerting. It comes out of nowhere.

You are told that your character is going undercover to try and get close to the Russian enemy leader. You see a cut scene then the screen goes black. Then you hear the sounds of soldiers gearing up. If you remember the first trailer ever released for this game that's exactly what this is. Then all of a sudden you see yourself and 4 characters walking out of an elevator fully armed. There is a group of people right in front of you waiting to board a plane. All of a sudden everyone you are with opens fire. You and the three other characters then proceed to slowly walk through the airport massacring everyone you see. People try to run away. The wounded try to crawl away. Some people come back to try to help the wounded. But you or the other characters shoot everybody.

Yep - probably the closest you'd get at this point would be the FragFX mousepad controller for the PS3. They seem to get decent enough reviews.

I have one. It's...... eh. It's really tough to properly set up and it never feels right. I used it a lot playing COD4 and there's no difference now that I'm using a dual shock. If you just can't get used to using a pad it's good but it's still no substitute for an actual mouse.

The single player is pretty secondary to the multiplayer but I think it was worse than COD4. The story is stupid and confusing, the difficulty is pretty insane (you will often find yourself moving forward and then suddenly being fired on from like 5 different directions and dying instantly. There's also a few parts where enemies pop out of doors, fire at you, go back inside and close the door behind them and you can't open the door and follow. They pretty much just fire on you every time you aren't looking and there is little you can do about it.), it took me only 4 hours to finish and they recycled a ton of shit from COD4. The COD4 story made more sense and was much easier to follow, and even though it was short I don't remember it being this short. It seemed as real as it could be while this one had some pretty dumb shit happening with some really ponderous monologues. The single player in MW2 is best just experienced as bunch of epic set pieces. Don't even think about any of the back story.

I do love, however, just about every change they made to multiplayer.

I put a good dent in this game yesterday. Yes, MP was screwed up. It doesn't surprise me. I'm surprised when you CAN get on MP the day after the release. I just played the SP while it was down.

The strategy in the single player bothers me. Since your "team" does nothing other than get in your way, there is no team strategy. Since enemies keep on coming, you can't just sit and pick people off. The strategy is to keep moving forward, into a firefight then wait for your health to regenerate. I don't expect it to be realistic, but I wished that there was more strategy than run and shoot.

My buddy picked it up yesterday. Took it home, installed it. Looked beautiful. Good story for the 1st couple missions.

Then, the game fried his video card. He had occasional problems with it for months now, but nothing that was awful. His video driver would say it had stopped responding, then would recover. It wouldn't happen a lot according to him.

Whatever is in this game, it pushed it over the edge. I mean he did turn the setting all the way up but this card should have handled the settings.

Anyway, he slapped another card he had lying around in it and played it at lower settings, it looks like a really great game. World at War seemed so rushed and was lacking a good story, but I think they made up for it on this one.

Anyone else having serious lag issues? Most of the time I'm fine but the last match I started shooting at a guys back, kept shooting at him while he turned, shot back at me and killed me. I watched the kill cam and he had moved by the time I started shooting and took no damage from me at all. I was shooting directly at him for nearly 5 seconds.

What perks does everyone use? I love Scavenger, Bullet Damage/Penetration and Steady Aim. They are the only ones i use. Although the Cold Blooded perk sounds cool.

If you go into options on the first menu after selecting multiplayer, you can turn down the voice volume and it turns down everyone's voice! It's fantastic.

Yea. Eventually, I threw a flash bang, then shot as i was running. I just beat the game and I loved the story. There HAS to be a Modern Warfare 3. There was questions left unanswered. The ending was pretty interesting though.

The stinger missile launcher is the shit. Nothing like shooting down everyone's air support then getting called a faggot nigger by 10 year olds afterward in the pregame lobby.

No matter my level, I still suck, so we'll be pretty even.

I haven't even played with anyone yet. I just play alone and sit in the woods and snipe people. It's awesome.

Agreed. I was a 1.1 to 1.2 K/D on COD4 (not great, but not too bad) - at first with MW2 I was about a 0.3...after about a week I started dying a lot less (but still a lot.)

Update: After talking to various members, who experienced certain game trophies go missing, we have found a solution to get them back. Follow these instructions:
Insert the game disc into your PS3 and start it
After the game has loaded, quit to the XMB
Go to your Trophy Collection and Sync with Server

I've pretty much lost all will to play between moving, Black Ops coming out in a month and since they reintegrated all the maps together. I liked playing the stimulus maps separate. I'm sick of the original ones.
