Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking.
Looks like he was murdered though.
His wiki has been updated, but that's the only other site confirming his death.

Pretty shocking. I know boxing isn't as big as it used to be but I remember reading some good stuff about him in Sports Illustrated. This won't get a blip of coverage, unfortunately.

I hear they're trying to force her into a codeine overdose!
And as for Gatti, this is a shame.
He was a close friend of a customer of mine and I met him twice. A really nice guy and a fun fighter to watch. What he lacked in skill and finesse he more than compensated for with guts and heart.

I ran into him on the street in montz a couple years ago, he stopped to talk for a while, such a nice guy. Sounded like rocky.
If you were to put together a alltime boxing highlight reel Gatti would have made many appearances. He was an entertainer, boxing isn't about belts it's about PPV, and Gatti knew the formula. RIP.

not to say anything bad about the guy personally, cause its a shame what happened. But as a boxer, he fuckin sucked. He didnt know how to box, he just fought, and that made his fights and the guys he was fighting look better and more exciting.

His fights with Mickey Ward are the reason I say that MMA isn't nearly as good as boxing. Those fights were epic.

Like Macnair, he was asleep..
But strangulation is totally different from being shot in the head. You would wake up once the air was cut off, no? And it takes a damn long time to kill someone by strangulation. It's just surprising.

This just in from the AP/google news
SAO PAULO — An autopsy indicates former boxing champion Arturo Gatti may have committed suicide, been accidentally killed or murdered, according to a Brazilian newspaper that said it obtained a copy of the coroner's initial findings.
Well That should clear things up.
Associated Press Writer Bradley Brooks in Rio de Janeiro contributed to this report.

well, his wife was cleared and it was ruled a suicide. why you would have a purse strap around your neck unless you were trying to jerk off, I don't understand.

It'll be interesting to see their findings, but can anything actually come from them in the US?
