Good. That Dunkin Donuts on 86th and Lex sucks. Black coffee no sugar means don't add any sugar.

You should probably ask for no sugar, then.

tim horton's fucking rules. i don't drink coffee but i will have a cup if it's from there. they're donuts are fantastic as well. all the ones in my town are mobbed every morning with people waiting to get their tim horton's fix. oh, and their biscuits on their breakfast sandwiches are the best i've had that aren't homemade.

why be redundant and say no sugar? If you ask for just Black Coffee maybe the sugar wouldnt be there, but since you say no sugar the person probably gets confused hears sugar and adds it in there, because if you are just asking for black coffee they automatically know to not put sugar in there.

It is all your fault mikey, please learn to order properly.

Because I've been to to many places where people think black coffee means with sugar. I guess the logic is that if you put sugar in, the color doesn't change. Why is it so unfathomable to some people that you would drink coffee without sugar?

I do not drink a lot of coffee but when I do, I have never put sugar in it.

I just always assumed that black meant coffee nothing else, I thought this was a universal given.

Pfffft. You guys have it easy. This always happens to me when I order coffee:

what happened to local cuisine staying local? I know Tim Horton's is a chain and has been expanding, but I kind of liked the idea that it was some you only found in Canada and the Northeast. First Dinosaur BBQ goes to NYC, now this. What's next, Nick Tahou's?

well your theory is wrong.
I say Toasted Almond with skim milk when I order at DD and they always ask "NO SUGAR???? "

as if I am the only person to ever order coffee without it.

And yeah, black means without anything where I come from, but most people behind the DD counters are Filipinos or Indian and just from my ex husband's family side they all really drank sugar with a bit coffee, so maybe for them black means w/ sugar.

But you are only saying toasted almond with skim milk so right away there is no black coffee to deal with. So your situation does not match Mikey's at all.

Black means black nothing else, I never heard anything different. Your ex's family didn't drink black coffee they drank coffee with sugar. If they ever said they drank black coffee you should have corrected them.

Black coffee means just coffee nothing else this should be common knowledge, it is just plain ole' logic.

no it does match the comparison cause we both don't want sugar... he makes it clear and I never ask for it in the first place, yet both get the question of whether we are absolutely sure we don't want any sugar

so as you were saying his problem is that he mentions it to them... I and other people have the same problem when they don't mention it or ask for it at all.

But you are not asking for black coffee! If you just ask for black coffee you should not receive sugar if you do, it is because the person is an idiot. You situation is completely different from mikeys.

You are saying toasted almond with skim milk, so of course they are going to ask if you want sugar, I worked in a deli for 3 years and my mom worked in one for over 15 years, you always ask someone if they would like sugar if they do not request black coffee, that is also common knowledge in the "coffee business".

well then work at the damn coffee shops I frequent, Mr. Coffee Business :), cause they don't know!
I also ask for skim milk and not cream, half & half or regular milk... all more likely to be combined with sugar

I'll take Tim Horton's down here in Hayseedland, but I'd be happier if we got WaWa here.

The dominant convenience store here is Speedway, and they suck ass.

This is not going to be the introduction that Tim Horton's hopes it will be.

I have never heard of a satisfatory explanation as to why coffee in any NYC Dunkin Donuts always tastes like it was filtered through a Haitain marathon runners sock. Long Island Dunkin Donuts for the most part tastes smooth. In the city they must pride themselves on letting the coffee boil down to a quarter pot before serving it and it is bitter as shit. So, whatever this place is, if they make smooth coffee, then welcome. There is a new coffee place in Hicksville called Sonoma coffee and its great. Not bitter like Starbucks, but it is styled like a Starbucks.

At least we have the freedoms to choose our coffee and are not forced to wait months in line just to talk to a barista who tells us to come back in four days for a cappuccino.

Went to the 33rd st location on Sunday.

It sucked.

The coffee was flavorless, the soup was highly generic, and the service was very slow.

Waste of time. If this is the kind of effort they are going to put into their USA locations then they don't stand a chance.

I'm scared, I agree with Jezo.

Tim Hortons is awful!!! The coffee is absolute swill and I don't know what they do in the roasting process but if I drink it I'll get violent cramps and explosive diarrhea. Something else to be aware of is that they don't make their donuts fresh in store. They're produced in some central factory, frozen, shipped then reheated onsite.

I fucking hate that dump.
