Can you think of any other artists/lead men who have been in different bands that seemingly fit their personal development/age.
Ian went from minor threat to fugazi to the evens, very different bands that seemingly fit his age at the time.
Only other person I can think of is mike kinsella, who isn't nearly as popular..
So I'm hoping you guys may know some others.

This is interesting and I'm sure there are a lot of guys, but you have to think about it.
Beastie Boys - They were a hardcore band, then really snotty and brash, got a little more iconcoclastic, got overtly political, and I think they've kindof gotten into nostalgia now.

Fred Cole, first of The Weeds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNBeXJq4wck) (mid-60's Garage rock), then The Lollipop Shoppe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jnHYW8Er2E)(late 60's psych), then in the mid-70's he formed Zipper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QucEzEvLHOU) ('hard rock'), then The Rats (early 80's punk band), then Western Front (mid-80's country), and finally Dead Moon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtEY8gaUXdQ) (a true R'n'R classic from 87-through 06).

Of course, I'm gonna say BUTCH WALKER.
He was the guitar player in a super cheesy (major label) hairmetal called SOUTHGANG back when he was, like 19.

Then he stepped out front and formed a power pop band called MARVELOUS 3 during his 20ies.

Then he moved on to become a singer/songwriter and do small acoustic tours during his 30ies (when he's not writing/producing hits for Pink, Avril, etc)

It's been kinda cool to watch him morph from a Bret Michaels type into a Tom Petty type.

Does Embrace fit into that?

Mojo, I'm seriously not an authority on musicians, that's why I'm asking.
Eric Clapton went from the Yardbirds to John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers to Cream to Blind Faith to Delaney and Bonnie to Derek and the Dominos before finally going solo.
I think.
I'm too lazy to look up the proper chronology.

Kim Deal- Atleast in hindsight you can look at her work with the Pixies as the struggle of being hugely talented but stuck in the band of someone as hugely talented who has a bigger, more psychotic ego.
The Breeders straddle what is maybe expected from Kim in a post pixies project, and also the fuzzy, lo fi, sometime country twinged stuff she was apparently doing with her sister in high school- so in a way asserting herself where she couldnt before.
The Amps ultra degraded, fuzzy and worn out. I feel like 'this is the end of youth, and maybe its about time we grow up.'
The Breeders again- two more albums with a lot of shifts and seemingly no concern for expectations. I take them as mature, eclectic, and maybe a little hurt.
